I got my refund for the Kingsound stats (which I'm no longer getting, unfortunately), and immediately ordered these with one day shipping off Amazon.

I'll be the first person on youtube to unbox them (though it was obviously rushed). frown.gif

I'll put the link up later.

First impressions:

This is it. No... seriously. This is what I WISH the DT990 would've sounded like.

Since I'm broke, and VERY happy... consider this my end game.

As for the fit... after bending the headband... it fits about as good as the 990s fit for me.

Sound impressions: Crisp, clear, and the bass is quite full and fun without it being basshead level obnoxious.

The sound SIGNATURE is what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with these...

BTW, the Mediabridge cable:

http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-3-5mm-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B004LU1U2M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371234896&sr=8-2&keywords=mediabridge+3.5

Fits great, and I may have to do more testing, but I swear it sounds cleaner than the stock cable.

I'll have more impressions later...

I'm glad you finally took the plunge. When you say this is your endgame, do you mean that these are the headphones you have been chasing the whole time? Or that you don't wanna spend any more money? wink.gif

If I had to choose a headphone on impulse, the X1 would be it.

Comfort, bass, clean, soundstage.

Yeah. No brainer.

A different kind of awesome from the Annies. I'd say I prefer the X1 due to my affinity for a fun sound, which the Annies, while being fun, are more on the balanced side.

If I could afford both, I would. Voices are richer and more realistic off the Annies. For my EDM and fun gaming though, I give the edge to the X1 just based off it's sound signature (haven't gamed with them yet).

Both. Have I heard better? Yes. But it's a balance of both fidelity and signature that the X1 has PERFECTLY tuned to my preference. It's more or a less a perfected DT990 (in that this is what I would've wanted the evolution of the DT990 to sound like). Lovely bass, energetic, and sparkly (but not overbearing, which is the 990's downfall). The mids are good too. Not K702 Annie or HD650 good, but they are good.

It has all the boxes checked for me.

Price: Check
Comfort: Double check
Velour: Check
Soundstage: Check
Bass: Check
Energetic: Check

I knew you would really like these. smily_headphones1.gif

I didn't expect them to disappoint. I'm just relieved that it fit my head after bending the headband.

It's still updating for the HD quality, but here's the unboxing.

Sorry for the few errors in the vid. The cable isn't braided. I meant to say it was covered in fancy cloth material. Also, I apologize for not attaching the cable to the headphones, though it's pretty obvious... easy plug and play. No locking mechanism, and most 3.5mm cables should work just fine as long as it's not too bulky.

Since you are still breaking your brain in on these bad boys, and you mentioned EDM, have a listen to Machination by Subdue.

Roll around in bass.

Ordered the black Vmoda cable. Would've preferred the black and gray one, but it's sold out.

It's odd. The stock cable doesn't define instruments clearly the way my mediabridge cable does. The stock cable is a little too diffused sounding.

While I don't believe in cable-fi, the stock cable truly is slightly choking the X1's sound. Such a shame. The cable is GORGEOUS.

I don't expect the Vmoda cable to sound better than the Mediabridge one, but I like the cloth sleeve on it, and it's shorter.

So I wasn't just imagining things... heh. I had the same impressions after switching to the Vmoda cable. It wasn't night and day but I could tell there was a difference in clarity.

I'm very skeptical when things like that are said, but it is at least evident that the stock cable just doesn't sound right. Find any cheap cable you guys may have and compare. I have tons though most are too short, and I'll compare later.

Hey guys... just noticed that the price of the X1's was down to $299 (got mine last week at $350).

I looked around online and people were saying that Amazon had a 30-day price guarantee for situations like this, so I contacted Amazon customer service.

They told me that the policy is valid if the price dropped within 7 days of the DELIVERY DATE of the product... and it has been 11 days since I got mine so they said they won't refund the 50 dollars.

They said I could return the headphones for a full refund and re-order them for the lower price if I wanted to... which I found pretty annoying.

What do you guys think about this? Should I even go through all the hassle?

It's 50$. Hell yes you should. Unless that's the kind of money you wipe your @$$ with.

Use the cash on some pads or a nicer cable, or even towards upgrading another part of your system.

It is definitely alot of money. I'm just peeved they just won't give a straight up refund. Even tried calling in person instead of using the chat feature on the site and they told me the same thing. Guess they won't budge on that little policy of theirs.

Guess I should just go for the return before they jack the price back up.

You may wanna order it while you wait, since prices fluctuate sometimes multiple times per day.

I was able to get my $50 credited back to my store card, considering they just arrived yesterday, but it IS stupid that they're making you go through that entire process.

Guess that offsets the $17 I spent for the Vmoda cable.

Damn, $299. Maybe I won't wait for the K712 or the K702 Anniversary to come down in price.
