The Centrance HiFi M8 thread - Page 335

In case anyone else was interested, I heard back about the ipod delay problems I was having, ie, a 3 sec delay in sound when switching between albums necessitating starting the track over from the beginning.

This was the email:

"That does seem to be a glitch that appears on iPod classic units.

We are not sure why it happens, but I ensure you that there is nothing wrong with your HiFi-M8.

We are trying to figure out why that is happening and will update the firmware when we find a solution."

So.. that's good news in that it's not a unit specific concern at least not with the M8.

Hopefully there will be a fix but I suspect I will have moved on to a ZX-1 by that time anyway..

Interesting... What gen iPod Classic are you using?

Mine's the 7th gen model. 160g

Same here... Is your iPod PC or Mac formatted?

To be honest, I wasn't aware that it made a difference but mine must be Mac formatted because I've only had Macs for about the last 6-7 years and I got this ipod about 2 years ago.

Anyone know if the Sony F887 works like the ZX1 on the M8?  I can't afford a ZX1 but could get the F887 and 64gb is respectable enough for me.  I just want to make sure that the output adapter would work the same as with the ZX1.

edit... Nevermind, I found the info...

Mine arrived yesterday, iPhone version with XL4. Really appreciate the 6.3mm socket. Drives my T90 on lowest gain (volume at 2-3 o'clock). Next weekend I'll test ist with my T1 -- looks like that might be a nice combination for my holidays.

While I personally have no interest in high-res audio and therefore don't own any one might try to use a 30pin to USB-B (the square one) cable together with a Lightning to 30pin adapter. I own such a combination as my Native Instruments Z1 came with it (I bought the Lightning adapter) and will test if it works at all...

That won't work, the only support for hi-rez file playback from an iOS device is through the Apple Camera Connection Kit adapter, and thats an Apple imposed limitation not anything specific to CEntrance. Connection is through the M8's USB-B input.

For a standard 30 pin or Lightning connection, the upper limit is 16-bit/48kHz.

Actually I don't care... I'm quite happy with the intended connection (i.e. Lightning to USB-A) -- and that works beautifully.

Also tried it out with the Signature Pro yesterday, which seemed quite happy with the juice of the M8. I did try the bass-boost in that combination, but, while clearly audible, its not to my taste (as expected, I generally dislike EQs of any kind when applied during music reproduction). It does give it a harder kick, but hides the lower bass, which I happen to like and therefore missed sorely.

Actually you said you were going to test it... so I thought I'd save you or other members reading this thread the trouble.

Yes, you did spare me the trouble of searching said cables, getting high-res music files + a player application -- which is essentially of no further interest to me (thats what I meant).

Tomorrow afternoon the M8 will have the honor of entertaining me on a 4h train trip, most likely in combination with the Signature DJ.

Received my CEntrance HiFi-M8 (iDevice/XL4 version) today and put it on charging. Seems like a quality piece of kit. Looking forward to trying it out.

I would like to share The SQ different between normal USB A and USB B on My M8 For Idevice

Source : IPhone 5s
DAC / Amp : Hi Fi M8 For Idevice RSA balance version
Iems : Sony EX 1000
Cable : White Color USB type A to lightning
Yellow Color USB type B to lightning

Overall Sound Quality :

USB type B :
has more body , faster bass Speed and better bass impact , better pronounce In mid, better clarity

Normal USB type A :
Less bass body bass sound a bit mudy and slower that make The bass Bloomy , mid is not so Clear and The clarity is not extended
Like use USB type B

IMO

Please Share Your opinion Here Thank you
