Quick couple of questions...

How do we know when / if a firmware update is coming out?

Also, maybe its been covered, but I don't see it - the reason for my question on the firmware is re the 24/96 maximum playback from idevices, but - is that circumvented by using an app like Onkyo HF Player, and - if not, has anyone tried a USB female type A to male type B converter to use the other input - does this work?

As much as I hate being an iSheep, I must admit, just in pure form factor (if nothing else!) the iPhone 5S I have here is so much more compact than the Galaxy Note 3 that I also use, so - if I can drop everything onto my iPhone, then happy days...

Thanks.

[Edit - seeing the low price, just picked up a USB converter from eBay - If no-one has already experimented, guess I will be the guinea pig! :)]

Centrance did advertise iPhone 24/96 capability, especially to people who pre-ordered. I hope Centrance can be more forthcoming towards ETA of the firmware's development and subsequent upgrade dates.

Could the Centrance note re 24/96 be with regards to the stock player (and ALAC?!?!?) - really ambiguous, and - with no lights, display or otherwise to tell you what the output of the M8 is, am a bit lost :(

I've just purchased the HD pack - hence my question - about to try it now - but, with the big caveat that I do not know if 24/192 will be downsampled to 24/96 - or lower...

down sampled - to 48khz, whether 192 or 96khz :(

The Golden Ear app for iDevices can do the same thing too but bottom line is all the hi-res files will still be down sampled to 48kHz. The only thing missing from the Golden Ear app is EQ, I wonder if the Onkyo app does EQ.

Yes, confirmed working on downsampled hi-res files through the M8 :)

Duncan, does the Onkyo app have any multi band EQ. I'll definitely get it if there's EQ.

The Onkyo app will play high-res this way:

IDevice running IOS7>Apple CCK>USB B cable>M8 USB B input

I believe people have had success with the CCK into the large USB input, and that's where the Onkyo app would be useful.

Yes! Multi point, can be dialled in to the exact frequency you want, not tried overloading it, but if your eq is hot, you can lower the volume / peaks on the whole eq at the same time (or drag it louder as the case may be) an extreme test is as attached smily_headphones1.gif

The Multi Point looks really cool and will be nice to compensate for the missing EQ bands (mids) on Hifi-M8.
