The Centrance HiFi M8 thread - Page 134

Hi there, can someone please confirm if the pre-order price for the Hifi M8 and the Hifi M8 LX will be the same price? There seems to be a lot of confusion in this thread as it has been suggested variously that the retail price of the Hifi M8 LX will in fact be $150 cheaper than the Hifi M8 I and just want to know what the situation is for sure.

If you choose to go balanced, the Magnus cable is a 4 conductor cable and can be easily reterminated to balanced, 4 pin XLR. And then you could have a XLR to 1/8 adapter made to use that cable single ended if needed.

Or have a whole different balanced cable made up for your 8.A by any number of cable makers. Then keep your Magnus for SE use.

If you went with 2x3 XLR option, you would need a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter (small plug -no big deal) to use the 8.A with the 1/4 combo jack. And then if you wanted to go balanced , you would need a double 3 pin XLR termination for your IEM cable....I think that's a bit ridiculous. The single 4 pin XLR is big enough hanging off an IEM cable, but two? Kinda crazy.

I would write Centrance and hear it from them directly.....

I think that this is the first time that you have publicly admitted that keeping us continually apprised of progress and decisions on top of all your design and production efforts as been a royal pain in teh rump.

Nope, it has not. It's actually a useful habit. It keeps me grounded, focused and productive. So thanks for the opportunity to share.

This week is extremely hectic though, so an occasional spelling error may sift through. My apologies. I've corrected the post above.

We are prepping for the Tokyo show this weekend, building prototypes, packing seven large boxes of parts to send to the factory and coordinating production -- that's just a lot of busy work. But it's all good. All of this needs to be done.

Please be patient. We will not forget you. Please PM me just to be sure that we have you in the system. Just kindly give us a couple of days. This whole week is low on sleep and extremely crazy with preparations for production. No ill will on our part.

LX turned out to be more complex than we thought, so we cannot make it cheaper than M8. It's quite advanced.

For simplicity, we are making them the same retail price and same discount applies to both units for the early-bird folks. A couple of people may have lucked out and gotten a better deal than that, since they called in while we still considered a lower price for the LX. Good for them. Moving forward, M8 and LX will be the same price.

Thanks Mike.  I'm not implying your intention to ignore emails, I was just concerned that I might have made a mistake (I do that lots).

Seems to happen with a lot of impressions threads on head-fi.

I agree 100%, with the additional followings would be really nice

1) Also post links at the first page to others impression within the thread for at least a year

2) Include links about headfier fixes, software updates, authorize dealer within thread etc.

3) Owner of M8 and present its own review at first page and findings

4) Must be really interested in the product and not someone who hates it, slam it and then disappear altogether.

I always appreciate some senior headfiers here who does that like MF for TH900 thread with so many links, suggestions and findings at the first page makes one easy to access and believe me I bought the TH900 because of easy access to information.

Thoughts?

Anybody has any recommendation for reliable short Lightning cable for M8 applications?

Nomad is probably too short and expensive for this purpose.

Or perhaps CEntrance has managed to source for a reliable Lightning cable in the midst of the rolling boulder!

I bought a couple of these guys off ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Short-protable-8Pin-sync-charger-USB-Cable-iPhone-5-iPod-Touch-7-6-white-268-/151041810381?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item232acb1fcd

They come in white or black. You asked for "short" and "reliable" ...Well, I can vouch for the "short" and that it does work for charge and sync (so should work for data). You are going to have to draw your own conclusion on the "reliable" part LOL.

It does seem to be fine build quality. I'm going to re-sleeve mine for a bit more eye candy but the function seems solid.
