The units will be sent in order of which they were pre-ordered.
For example i placed my preorder in late october so i will receive mine a lot, lot sooner than you will i expect.
I wonder if the LX's will be completed at the same time as the regular M8's? I ordered In the second week of December...
Also, I wonder how many units will come out, and be shipped in the first round...(I'm thinking 20-25)...let the guessing begin!
If you get to hear the release version at the Tokyo show, you may be the first here to do so. Perhaps you should open the impressions thread and be the boss/owner I mean sit back and watch it unfold? First ears on should have that privilege, yes?
Wait, this is Headfi, we can totally have a thread 100's of posts deep with speculation on how it will sound compared to other devices without anyone having heard it. We need to get moving!
OH - Oh - OH! Me first! It drives my balanced mad dogs with authority! The sound stage is expanded and holographic in nature. When pulling digital signal from my iPod touch, I had to keep making sure I was not plugged into my home rig. Pretty sure I wasn't, I was listening to my mad dogs and texting while driving in my car... Well, that and I don't really have a home rig at the moment...
I'll back you up with impressions in a new thread as soon as I get a chance to. I should either have mine by Chifiunifi 2013 or I will be able to listen to the demo unit since Michael plans to be there.
To the best of my knowledge/speculation, no. But the product isn't in anyone's hands yet, so who really knows.
BTW, has anyone used the new email that was posted with success? I used it and haven't received a reply yet. I know, I know.....patients.....
No special mode. You can hook it up from from the balanced headphone out with the attenuator all the way open. In theory this isn't as pure as a fixed out, but in practice, I'd wager you would be hard pressed to hear a difference.
^^ This. I did this with a DacPort (single ended) and could not hear a difference as compared to the dacport LX. In this case, the recommendation was to set the volume at "1 o'clock", which worked well. I anticipate being able to do this in balanced mode should I decide to do so. Depending on the amp, it may require a 4 pin XLR to 2 x 3 pin adapter.
