If you ordered the version with iDevice connection then no, you won't need a camera connection kit.

the Fostex hp_p1 doesnt work with the 5.5ipods, I dont know If it will work with the hifi m8.

If you ordered the version which has an S/PDIF input, then you could use the (albeit awful) S/PDIF output of the DX100 at 192k.

Something interesting, though I don't know if it would work is this: I was playing around the other night with the CCK and managed to get my iPad to stream 192k files through the CCK. Through the Apple approved method using a USB dock the maximum resolution files you can store and play on an iPhone or iPad is 48k (CD quality being 44.1k for the benefit of silent readers).

I already have the DacMini that I am using with my original Samsung Galaxy Note along with a third party Android USB Class-1/=Class-2 capable audio driver, but it is limited to 24/96 over USB on DAC Mini due to DAC MIN only USB supporting Class-1,

assuming on an M8, it can go all the way up to 24/192 when used with this Class-1/Class-2 USB compliant driver or are there additional caveats ?

Yes Android USB Audio Recorder PRO, apparently DacPort with powered USB hub or my own test with DacMini works fine but at 24/96, if I try to play 24/192 content it sounds garbled, likely because the App has no built in sample rate converter it is simply relaying bit-perfect output to the USB port.

Another thing to note is, you may find that audio quality improves if you use a task manager to free up memory and close unneeded apps. Otherwise occasionally you will have audio dropouts.

Another feature that would make the M8 really unique would be some way to physically integrate its source. As far as I know, no other DAC/AMP has this feature. On the go I expect that many of us will use an iPod (Classic/Touch) or iPhone. Attaching it with rubber bands perhaps looks cool, but isn't optimal. Now, my question is if this perhaps is in the pipe? If not, what is this on top of the M8?:

I can only answer the last question...  I think I remember reading that it's just an optional accessory with a cushioned pad, that can sit between the HiFi-M8 and your source.

Well, my friend.......welcome to the waiting club. We can all speculate but until the production model is finished and listened to its all guess work for sound.

The M8 will 99% have more power, so I suppose you could make a decision based on what you are looking to drive.

I listened to the venturecraft go-dap X (both versions) and have written my impressions somewhere in the go-dapX thread. I thought it was a good unit, not as good as my Fostex hp_p1, but good value. V-Moda will release the Versa soon which I guess will be an upgraded go-dap X.

The headphone output impedance of the Go-dapX is 47ohm(they said to me via email), whereas the Hifi-m8 has 3 settings, the lowest being 1ohm-which is waaay preferrable.

It all depends on how much you want to spend, and what you want to use it for.
