Looking to get into planar magnetics. 

 

Wondering if the amp internal to the HP-P1 has enough muscle to drive the HiFiMANs adequately.  I've searched but found no answers to this question so figured I'd put it out there to the head-fi community.

 

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experiences with this DAC/Amp working with the orthos.  Just for fun I'm adding a poll, but I'm really interested in the commentary.

Well, the HP-P1 is a hair bass heavy and a tad treble light. I would think it'll be pretty nice with the brightish HE-500. I use it with my Pro 900's and it's great. It won't take the HE-500 to desktop setup bass but it should be pretty damn good.

500s and a speaker amp.

The portables can drive the 500s very well indeed. I was surprised.
