My Clip+ arrived at my work today along with my new 650 cables. Should be a good night.

It's finally charged. What's the best way to format the card or does the Clip deal with it? I'm using a 64GB SanDisk Ultra Class 10 card.

Try it and see.
It might have to be formated to fat32. There're many fat32 converters (some convert up to 32gb only, try hard disk low level format tool for example) for free (inserting it into your phone might also work)
I recommend rockboxing the devuce as well btw.

I just formatted it to exFAT and it's working fine although transfers are a bit slow. The sound isn't bad at all but I've only tried a couple of tracks. I can't get over the size though, especially coming from a Galaxy Note 3 / E18 combo!

I need to investigate Rockbox. I used it once on a D2 when I used that but it was not very user-friendly. To be honest I can't even remember what it brought to the party.

Well, there's a rundown somewhere but among the most significant ones:

- improved FLAC file playing battery life [8 hours stock, 14 hours rockboxed]

- corrects a slight up pitch [that might or might not be very audible] present in the stock firmware

- shortens SD card loading times by a big margin

The one draw back is that the rockbox runs at a native 16/44.1, therefore 16/48 files are downsampled which might present a slight sonic change/artifacts, I wouldn't know as almost all my files are 44.1 or I don't listen for it.

I've already downloaded the Rockbox Utility to my Mac but I haven't got a clue now. It's asking for my original bin file but I have no idea where that would be found.

You have to download the original sansa firmware [v 1.0, I believe it comes with 1.01 now here in EU, not sure elsewhere], which can be found on their website or just google it.

I believe that was the bin file you need [for back up, switching between the OS, etc]

The message that pops up has a link to where you can download that file.  Click it.

Both 44.1k or 48k can be used as the sampling rate, and the new resampler is fairly good if you have some other rate.  You do have to pick one though.

Rockbox successfully installed this morning. I had some kind of brain fade last night, lol. It only took two minutes this morning before work. That's just as well because two minutes was all I had this morning after a late night listening.

Initial impressions? Very good. I've only used it for a few tracks but I like what I hear. I was sceptical about any sonic improvements but it does sound a bit different. I initially though the Sansa sounded very forward in the mids, kinda honky. It seems smoother now though. More balanced. That could be placebo though. Anyway, usability is great and exactly what I wanted.

It's there at the very right, in the emoticon bar, above the text field.
Regardless, you're welcome wink.gif
