It's like going to a sports car forum and seeing people talk about the GT2 like it's the be-all end-all, but only because of how expensive it is.  The source is a very important part of a stat chain given how revealing stats are, but the K-01 discussion is done in a way that's off-putting and non value-add for a lot of people.

i think someone need to create Appreciation thread for this DAC. That would sort out the "confusion"

So the rumour is true.  smily_headphones1.gif

They were developing other high end headphones after the release of HD800.

I think that would be a given with any of the big headphone companies.

I'm expecting it to look like the HD800 or HD700. And frankly, I couldn't give a rat's arse as to how it looks, as long as it sounds the part.
Sound-wise, I have conflicting expectations. There is a possibility that they voiced the HD800 and HD700 like they did in order to fake electrostatic resolution, in which case with a real electrostat they may very well be content to make it as flat as possible. Having seen what they can do in terms of eliminating resonances from a dynamic driver, if they do this they'll probably have something seriously stunning on their hands. Then there's the possibility that they'll want to stick to the new house sound, whatever it is ("Zomg moar brite!!! Moar detailzZ! It's what the market wants!") and we'll be left bemoaning how there's now yet another shiny new headphone that isn't better than the O2 Mk1.

I love you as always.

If they are aiming at he90/ sr009 performance , i WILL cost upwards of 5000( even 10000 depending on its production , i.e. if its limited )

While i do hope they gun for HE90/SR009 , but i wont be able to afford it till 2-3 years . So if they release 2 sets, one priced at 2000 another with the insane price tag. ( like they did earlier)

I think that would be a great idea, in other words have a basic made headphone lower priced and the other custom made at an higher cost.

I read a interview with President at Sennheiser Greater China from Taiwan's hi-fi magazine.

He told there will be new electrostatic headphone and amplifier in the future, and he heard the prototype already.

But he didn't confirm the amp will be tube or solid-state.

I guess the new set could double price than HD800+HDVD800, they should be start from $7,000.

With RMAF underway, I was wondering if anyone has heard news on the new Sennheiser 'stat and amp. I know spritzer and Kevin Gilmore mentioned that they will unveil the new products.

I think they said maybe RMAF but more definitely by CES.

The reason I doubt it would be introduced at RMAF is because they're busy promoting their new dynamic amps and wouldn't want new stats to steal the thunder.

Thread Starter

I asked about it at RMAF. They didn't exactly go out of their way to deny it.

Interesting. So there is some truth to the rumors. I guess we will have to wait until CES, otherwise they would have already unveiled them by now.

Bummer, I was getting pretty excited for this release....although if it costs a fortune, I'd be less amped, so to speak.

I'd only get excited if one of the headphones looks very similar to the HE-90, but even then it'd be sometime off before I'd have the money even if it was a reasonable price.

if it was in RMAF then I had just missed it today....blink.gif

I guess they will present it later on, CES 2013 is more likely.
