Good cans similar to Sennheiser HD 558 but closed cups?

Hi all, I am looking for some decent sounding closed cup headphones for outdoor use that is close to HD 558. I love my 558s but since they are open cup I can't use them outside. So I am looking for something similar sounding but closed cups and in the same price range - around $200.

 

And when I say outdoor use, I cannot compromise sound quality for the sake of portability. Definitely headphones for outside use have to be portable enough but what I mean is I don't mind wearing big headphones.

 

 

Please advise.

This can be difficult to answer...but I will nevertheless just give u possibilities:

Thanks a lot Valerianaoff! I will start doing research on them one by one.

 

 

V-Moda M 80 looks very promising. I like flat response headphones with decent bass and these fall into that category. But I am looking for a full sized circumaural headphones. I don't like in-ear/earbud headphones. I wouldn't mind on ear headphones if they were comfortable but since they put pressure directly on my ear I don't find it very comfortable.

Hey no prob bro...guess then u could also wait for the September release of VMODA M100 (circumaural) :) but they may retail for $300...and in that price range, others can be considered too :)

 

For now,those are the names I can think of for you...hope some other head-fiers can help out provide more options.

ok. so I have shortlisted these two from your list -

 

Ultrasone HFI 780 and AUDIO TECHNICA ATH PRO700 mk2

 

Also I am considering Shure SRH840. I wish I could try them out some where myself. that would help me make up my mind. I have read tons of reviews of all of them, but unless I try them out, I can never really be sure.
