That was actually done by our very own Tinyman392 =) He's posted it on the Heir Audio Thread as well =)

Would love a comparison with JH5.  The 3Ai descriptions sound exactly like what the JH5 sounds like.

If I had a JH5, I would compare for you.  Unfortunately, I don't own any customs XD  This is something you'll have to wait for unfortunately :(

I wanted to buy fx 700 and you have confused me.
I heard of the heir audio
Is that so good?
I want a strong bas, volume to be loud and to be driven very well be a dap.
Guys do you think that the 3ai can provide a very deep bass streight from a Sony or a Cowon dap?
What should i by?
Jvc fx 700 or heir audio 3ai?
Cotnijoe?
tinyman392?
Thanks.

Thinking about getting these.  How do they handle low volume listening?  Right out of an iPod classic (7th gen) and maybe an amp like the E11 later on?  I like to listen to music before bed, but louder volumes get me all riled up. I know some IEM's just don't perform well at low levels.

I was wondering if anyone has done a HA 3.Ai vs UE TF10 comparison yet.  I'm looking to sell my TF10 and put the 3.Ai in my arsenal... but I'd like to see a comparison or two first.

3.Ai handles pretty well with just the iphone. Obviously it would be better with an amp, but just off the ipod, theyd still sound good. I personally listen to my music at lower volumes too, and volume hasnt been too much of a problem for me.

3.Ai has a much richer sound than the TF10 in my opinion. TF10 does have a little bit of an edge in soundstage though. I'm one of those people who struggle (... a LOT) with getting a proper fit with the TF10s soo...I dont think I should be commenting on anything else really haha.

Sorry, guess i just dont get to see many JVCs in general in the places I've lived.

I did a comparison of 3.Ai and GR07 at the very beginning of the thread if u wanna check it out

GR07 is much flatter and balanced, goes without saying. What I do like about the the lower end of the GR07 is that it has presence while remaining a fairly neutral IEM. On the other hand, 3.Ai pumps the bass down well. Very well. Wont go as far as to say theyre basshead but its significant. As for sub bass, I really like it on the 3.Ai. I always find that sub bass is often the backbone to the music, and i like having it stand out a little bit more.

There has been someone else recently on this thread who has said that they prefer the sub bass extension of the GR07 over the 3.Ai, so maybe you can flip through the thread and ask him about that. Generally though i think most people really REALLY love the bass quantity and quality of the 3.Ai.

I think the two are fairly different...kind of interested in why a lot of people compare the two, I guess there are similarities but there are many iems more similar to the 3.Ai than the GR07. So in the end if your looking for GR07 with more bass emphasis, it might be something that you could consider.

As a basshead who listens to mostly metal and symphonic rock, I love the bass on the 3.Ai because it has that nice thump and it's not overwhelming too. The bass has a nice "texture" and I have no idea how else to put it.

I think these may be my next set of earphones I purchase. biggrin.gif
post #103 of 309

Can anyone comment on whether these would suit my aural preferences?

I have an Ultrasone Pro900 which, to my ears, lacks midrange and has very harsh highs. Everything about the 3.Ai sounds great except the treble. I am concerned with it being a bit sibilant or harsh for my liking. I have to say that the more I burn in the Pro900, the better the treble seems to be getting (though the mids are still lacking).

In contrast, my Shure SE215 seem to have sufficient bass extension and the mids seem to be more in-line with that I prefer, but the treble isn't extended enough for my liking. I do enjoy the fact that it is not fatiguing, but I feel that I am missing too many details.

Will the 3.Ai be a good sonic "fit" for me? I'm really looking forward to trying a good set of BA earphones.

I have listened to both the 3A.i and the 4A.i and compared them to my Etymotic ER-4S's. I have never heard the Ultrasone or Shure IEM's.

If you are looking for detail in the treble, then I would recommend the 4A.i over the 3A.i. Just remember that I have been listening to ER-4S's for over 15 years and I am used to hearing very little bass but TONS of detail in the highs. I KNOW what's there in the recordings and I don't hear much of that information with the 3A.i. By comparison, the 4.Ai has much more detail in the highs and relative to my ER-4S's, it has tons of bass too, just not as much as the 3.Ai's. Of course almost everything I have heard has much more bass than the Ety's. The high's on the 3.Ai's seemed harsh and sibilant compared to the 4.Ai's and the Ety's. The highs on the 4.Ai's are much smoother and not sibilant. There's just not the same detail as the Ety's.

I have yet to hear any headphone that has as much detail as the ER-4S's. My Stax 407/323 combo definitely does, but that's a $1600 full size electrostatic headphone, hardly a fair comparison.

Please bear in mind also that I much prefer a more accurate frequency response as opposed to a v shaped response, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Thank you, I appreciate your response Darin. I think it is a little too late because I just went ahead and ordered the 3.Ai yesterday anyhow haha. I am still interested to see how they compare because I see that these have good resale value if I really don't like the 3.Ai. I do prefer a strong bass presence in music which requires it (EDM), but don't love harsh highs and sibilance. I'd love to hear the low end of the 4.Ai because the rest of it's signature sounds like what I'm after.
