Never said hearing the music as it was intended.  It's hearing the sound file faithful to the source (whether or not its the way it was intended is a different story).  EG, hearing the sound as the sound engineer does.

Just wondering from all you owners... Do you think the Magnus 1 Cable upgrade is worth it when buying the Heir Audio 3.Ai? I'm extremely careful with my things (i.e Screen protectors/Cases put on the day of purchase), do you think the cable would be worth getting? I can't seem to bring myself to paying a third of what these costs for a cable that has been reported to have no affect on sound quality, just aesthetics and durability.

Now if these were the 4.Ai's or customs than I would definitely splurge on the upgraded cable, but these will be used daily when I'm out and about, I don't see any reason to get them if I'm very careful with my cables.

Hi Greed

I believe they are worth it and to be honest they are great. However it might be worth buying the stock cable and enjoy the set up as is. When after a few months you still feel like a better cable you have the joy of upgrading:)

When I receive mine 8.a I can forward you a set of Magnus 1 cables to try.

Cheers

G

Hey gidion,

Yea, I ordered them without the cable for now... just because I'm still not sure. I would gladly receive a magnus 1 cable from you to try out that would be great! I'm pretty sure I will be happy with the IEM either way but some added protection could turn out to be more useful than I thought.

..... ergonomically supperior and can be converted into a balanced cable if desired

Sound signature wise, you will find the same reports about any cable, and you will find reports to the contrary about any cable.

That is why I make no claims at all, because I do not want to join in the cable debate.

True, I forgot that they are ergonomically superior. But I actually did not know that they could be converted to balanced later on. These are interesting to me now. Is that a service that Heir would do if the customer contacted them or only for DIY folks? Obviously with additional charge and such.

We have the 4 pin socket in stock here in Chengdu, we could either ship it with the Magnus 1, and the owner can convert the cable, or install it ourselves at the time of purchase (+ 20$ either way)

Econimically speaking, it would be best not to ship the cable back to us to have us convert it, as shipping fees would become crazy expensive.

I know I can't pick the pieces of wood that come with my 3.ai, since they are pre-made.

but Is there any way I could ask for a more reddish wood, and have them send that to me? :)

The 3.Ai + is the wood you are looking for, the 3.Ai (standard) uses a brownish burl, the below photo is the wood used for the Ai+ products

Perfect! :) Thanks. I guess that means waiting and saving up a little more, but that's fine :) Worth it for getting the wood I want as well as a Magnus 1 cable :D Also, wouldn't this make me only the second ever 3.ai(+) to be made? :)

That is fine but since the mid-90's arguably music has been increasingly mastered poorly. On Head-fi people blame the headphones first instead of the engineer or rather the music label suits. Either way there is a reason the coloured "mainstream" sound is successful (bass bias, warm, lacking hot treble) because they are both fun and happen to mask technical deficiencies. That is all the Beats crowd look for. When done with a bit more finesse and technicality, the enthusiast crowd as can be found on Head-fi buy into it also. Absolutely we all have different personal preferences. If Heir and any other manufacturer thought enough profit could be had from releasing a "flat" frequency product for those wanting to do critical listening then they would release such a product. I for one will not be petitioning anyone on that front smile.gif

Would the Heir Audio 3.Ai "a significant upgrade" for Shure SE215?

Would the Heir Audio 3.Ai unleash all the potential of Colorfly C3?
