Hey, I am new to this forum so sorry if I make some mistakes. I am looking for some nice earphones for under 200 dollars ( I live in Australia so I am not sure if any headphones you suggest will price match or is available where I am) I have never had good earphones, only 25 dollar plastic ones at the moment. I personally not a big fan of those "beats" Stuff. It looks to overpriced and more of a fashion icon unless you guys disagree. I listen to dance and club mostly not really any other genre maybe some soft rock or something haha. Thanks for any advice guys!

You will find most people here understand beats are over priced. Many of us found this sanctuary (myself included) after selling our beats to some poor soul or simply throwing them away. What I'm saying is you can find much better for your money and that head-fi members take cover from beats marketing hype. Don't worry, there is a world after beats.

You have a few choices which I will recommend in your price range.

1) Vsonic GRO7: about $160 (very balanced, natural timbre, wide soundstage, excellent detail)
2) Yamaha EPH-100: about $135 (slightly bassy, great instrument separation and placement)
3) Triple-fi 10: about $175 ( excellent clarity, detail, metallic like signature, kind of resembles being in HD)

These are IEM's I own and IEM's that stay on top of the boards here due to their popularity. (all fantastic in their own way)

Here's a comparison thread to get you started. Look up the ones I mentioned and read ljokerl's take on them

(except for Triple-fi 10 which isn't there yet)

P.S: I'm from Australia.

Well, JB HIfi only stocks mainstream IEM's. If you were to purchase something here or one of my suggestions it would most likely need to be an online purchase. There's just nothing of real interest at D-Smiths or retail in Australian stores. I can give you links to two online Australian stores but they won't stock what I suggested. it would need to come from ebay sellers or another online shop (most likely overseas too) which I could guide you too if needed.

Here's the Australian online stores anyway. (free shipping)

Here is another thread you might find useful. http://www.head-fi.org/t/541204/concise-multi-iem-comparison-rha-ma-350-added-june-23th-2012

The issue in regard of ordering from overseas is postage and handling. Most item are cheap overseas, but considering the shipping cost the price is not as cheap. Have a look at the following online shop

jaben.com.au (excellent after sale service)

http://www.wickeddigital.com.au/ (some great deals)

The only way you can know what you like is by trying it out. We all have different taste. The popular choice might not be the right item for you. For example the TF10 have an incredibly strange fit which is a turn off for many, and considering their poor cable, not a good value. But the V sound is fun.

Edit: For bass heavy music you can search for SE215 and fischer audio eterna v2. They can be found in Australia and under 150 AUD. I love my fischer audio eterna.

Yes, It should be noted that while my suggestions are popular here they're in many cases also for people who have adapted an acquired taste and often tested other IEM's finding they prefer that sound signature. (although I think EPH-100 would be a pretty safe choice). Only use my recommendations as a guide line, be sure to check other IEM's that interest you as well.

For edm either the TF10, EPH-100, Atrio MG7 or the R-50 (the R-50 has the least amount of bass impact of the 4 but still plenty imo).
