Thread Necro

Thread Starter
Alright, I'm wondering if it'd be possible to add one of those "Anti-Necro" features like vBulletin has (where if you're responding to a thread >60 or >120 days old, you have to click a check box to agree to revive an ancient thread) - I'm just wondering because I've noticed that a lot of newbies seem to have a knack for digging threads out of the 2000-2005 era and bringing them back to the top. It wouldn't make it impossible to bump those threads up, but might help newbies find better threads to be posting in about whatever (I'm glad they're using search, but because it sorts by relevancy and not recency, and I doubt anyone reads dates, they tend to find these ancient threads that nobody will respond to, and convincing them of that is usually just a flame war).

Just a question/thought/feedback. redface.gif

This would be a good option as it would prevent needless animosity. Further, respondents could see that the necro was intentional and presumably purposeful, as in this case.

I was going to start a thread about the necromancing issue, but you've said everything I wanted to (but more eloquently and with less profanity redface.gif ). I wouldn't think implementing the feature would be so difficult.

Bump for this as it's happening a lot lately. Specifically, new members keep bumping old recommendation threads.

I think that's the area to focus on first. Maybe have a check box so recommendation threads are time-dependent (as one can with polls).
