I think it's matter of brain-burn in. Getting used to the sound signature, familiarizing yourself to the sound before you make a statement.
For instance, 4 Ai felt way too cold and metallic. I remember suffering same problem when I got CK10 100 and Pro.
Now? Not so much, it's not as cold and metallic as the initial listen. IE80 suffered the same faith, too much bass. Gave me headaches. Burn in or not, it still gave me headaches. When you are prone to these initial changes you are bound to make biased verdicts intentionally.
Call me weird, call me wrong, but I think people should familiarize themselves to the product to some degree since we may have overlooked or over/underestimated some stuff.
Just my two cents, maybe it's just me and my weird reasoning process.
Haha, not sure how I should write it. Anyhow, I will probably do 3ai/4ai comparison since that's seems the easiest. Don't expect anything spectacular or anything :)
