They just fitted quite nicely. I am not a big Comply man so i do not know the differences of bores they are supposed to fit but i have some T500s from my UEs. They also fit great!

The GR07 excels in this particular area, as they're the best IEM I've heard for drums! Actually, I never heard any BA IEM's, so maybe these just aren't for me and my tastes... redface.gif

Okay the GR07s do drums amazing and are perhaps the best reproducers of drums i have heard (them and the EX1000) and these arguably are a bit on the softer side for drums. That being said do the rest of the make ups of the sound make up for that? Yes and another 100x after that, i do not see a reason why these should not be for you. What is your preferred genre?

Thanks mate! The full review will be coming shortly! Nice positive attitude mate ;) Yes these are just great and the step just before customs really. The fit ear are really intriguing but also so expensive and when these are also 4 drivers at lf the price with a similar concept, its a hard call!

Yes, the bump i mentioned in the comparison of the two and luckily it does not cause me any pain at all, however the smooth design of the Heirs should suit everyone, it really is universal. I understand why people did not enjoy the ASG-1 as it had such as huge mid peak and i just happened to always agree with it. The sound of the Heir though will not have this problem as it is peakless and just great sounding, their is nothing that you will not agree with... unless your a huge basshead in which the question, were is the bass? may be asked. But you would have to be an extreme bass head to say that.

Oh yes, its just a 6mm at the moment, been their since i was 11 and got to 10mm a couple of years back but done it in a dirty market in india and it did nit end well, its hard to stretch more with my swimming you see as i wear a swim hat. Will do it this summer break actually thinking of it! (sorry guys for the off topic rant)

As for the Fit-Ear i will never own it but hopefully demo someones one day.

The ASG-1 just sounded plain wrong to me. I never use EQ, and im not really into a coloured sound as such. I thinks thats why the GR07 are one of my faves - and I agree their drum reproduction is fantastic! Im no bass head, I did however find the DBA 02 slighty bass light.

The FA-3e are fairly neutrall - not as dry as the GR07, and more engaging to my ears. There my go to IEM at the mo.... I am using an SPC cable which makes them a little more fun in presentation.

I never use EQ either and the sound was not coloured, it just had a peak in the mids, they are different things. The DBA-02 is bass light and these have more bass than them so no worries there. I just though that the GR07 were boring quite simply.

These are also neutral and sound great with an amp! These will just blow your mid as they are a similar sig to the GR07 but technically so much superior even with their slightly less bass.

I mainly listen to Rock/Heavy Metal and other kinds of Metal, but I can say I listen to several varieties of music genres. As I said, being a former drummer, I value the drum portrayal a lot, but the rest of the music as to be there and as too soung good and realist, because I know how it sounds in reality (or should sound). That said, I never found the GR07 to sound boring (amped/unamped, regardless of the source), just very real and true to the music! And man, do they excel with the drums!!! Have I said that before? biggrin.gif

Hi,

Im one of SwimSonny's best mates and know him from swimming, hence the name. I got into audio with Sonny and he just had Beats while i  had some IE8s so i was the reason he realised what he has is so poor.  having said that i am no longer a fan of IE8's having had the pleasure of borrowing sonny's collection with the likes of ASG-1's, EX1000's and DBA-02's being some of the best of all of them putting my IE8's to shame.

So i am round Sonny's now just for a bit of a lads night and we of course are having a session with the headphones and i have been giving the Heirs a listen. This is what i thought...

I can categorically say these are the finest piece of audio equipment i have had the joy of listening to, not saying they were perfect, but the best I have heard so far. The first thing that stood out for me was how fast they were, instrument separation was also very good. lively highs , not quite a DBA-02 but still impressive. Bass seemed to extend quite nicely but by far the stand out feature for me was imagery for me, i agree with sonny there. I disagree however with his perception of the drums, i thought this was excellent, especially amped, where the driver control seemed to be improved.

Overall i would say that these IEM's offer a clean neutral sound without being boring, my favourites by far... keep it up Heir!

These are also the genres that i choose to listen too and of course dabble with other genres. The only way i would not reccomend them is if you say that your a dubstep listener, they suit metal and rock very well. The GR07 is very well balanced and true but so is the Heir and even more so. They do excel in drums more than everything i have heard and every oone agress with that (well almost). Anyway i have my mate Josh over and his impression are below. I left him listening for a bit and the first thing he said when i got back with out removing them from his ears was "the drums". Now he knew nothing of what we had said about drums on this thread as not a keen poster but a very keen enthusiast. He does most listening with his HD650s and Objective 2 Amplifier and these do drums like something else, exceeding even the GR07s. So for him to say that is something special. He is not to keen with all the terms but he is very picky with what he likes. Most budget stuff i get he listens to them, takes them out and shakes his head in disgust, well, these are still in his ears now. Yes very unsociable ahah!

That's great news! Thank you for checking it out for me. I'm leaning heavily towards giving these a try, I just have to find out how the shipping into Canada will work.

I'm wondering about shipping myself.

@Wizard

I use a PO box for all my packages and to my knowledge only DHL and Canada Post have access to it. The last time I used UPS to receive a package I got an exception notification in the tracking information. For me to get my package I had to email the seller and have him redirect the delivery address to a UPS Store. Something else you should know, Purolator and UPS in Canada both charge fee's for clearing packages through customs which are ridiculously high. To avoid these fee's you have to go to the customs office and clear it yourself then pick up your package at the couriers warehouse. Considering Heir now has a US office can you put in a special request to have your package delivered by USPS? With USPS once the package hits the boarder Canada Post takes over and it's a lot less hassle that way plus no silly hidden fees. The worst that could happen is you pay duty and that's it.

I hope UPS gets here soon with my Ai's... I can see our main entrance from my office and to be honest I haven't done much else than keeping an eye out for The Man In Brown this morning.

Keep in mind that I have the 8.A in my ears already - Somehow the Ai's still have me hyped biggrin.gif

Swimsonny & swimcoleby, thank you both for your impressions! After what The Wizard explained last night in the Heir Audio thread about the differences between the 3.Ai and 4.Ai, I guess the 3.Ai should be more suited to my tastes. But I'll just have to wait for some direct comparisons between the two... wink.gif

I need impressions about the 4.Ai and 3.Ai! Forget your 8.A for a while, and focus on the universals! biggrin.gif

Actually with USPS/Canada Post you do pay brokerage fees but it's typically $5. I believe that amount goes up a bit once the value of the product hits a certain point but I could be wrong.

I used to avoid the other couriers like the plague because of the exorbitant brokerage fees charged with some of their shipping options but I recently delved into the matter a little further to try and sort it out. I didn't look into Purolator but with regards to UPS and FedEx it appears the two bad options are UPS Standard and FedEx Ground. From what I've been able to tell, and from experience with a few, it seems brokerage fees are included with their other shipping options. Here's a link to the UPS rates http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/shipping/time/service/shipping/index.html you'll notice that when you click on the rate to see the details, under Benefits, all but UPS Standard include in-house customs clearance.

I don't think I've ever used UPS World Expedited but JH Audio shipped 13Pro's to me numerous times using UPS Saver and I never had to pay any brokerage with that option. Also, I've used FedEx International a couple times with success as well.
