I wondered if that might be the case after I posted which is why I edited it. How about the 3.Ai then?

I can't help but wonder if I should have ordered the 3.Ai in addition to the 4.Ai to try both. Based on what I've read I can't seem to figure out if the 3.Ai would have too much bass for my tastes or whether the 4.Ai will have too little. The Westone 4's are the only frame of reference I have on hand but there hasn't been much comparison to those as yet.

If you want around the same amount, then go with the 4.Ai. I get a perceived 4-5 dB more bass than the Westone 4R in comparison to the 3.Ai.
OK, I will be doing comparions this week. The following have been added to the list of IEMs to comare to:
- Phonak PFE232 (closest in signature)
- Westone 4R
- Logitech Ultimate Ears UE900
I will be traveling about an hour away from home (where all my IEMs are), so make your requests now or wait until next week XD I'm thinking the SuperDarts (Atomic Floyd) would also be a good comparison, but won't bring it unless someone requests. SuperDarts have been compared to the Ultimate Ears TF10.

My own estimates are that the 4.Ai should have anywhere from 3-6 dB of boost from 40-300 Hz, with an average of 4-5 dB of bass boost. The nice thing about the 4.Ai is that the bass response feels very flat. The 3.Ai will reach lower, but you will effectively hear a wider spectrum of bass with the 4.Ai, as each frequency is more equally represented. Short comparison of the 4.Ai vs. W4 here.

ASG-1 1.2 rev is added to the list (and my bag).
EDIT: I forgot I posted in the 4.Ai thread, I'm comparing the 3.Ai not the 4.

Would just like to say (has been mentioned above) that Tomscy2000 has just been the first man to grace us with the comparison to the Westone 4. He also had some more physical impressions of the 4.Ai (and 3.Ai).
They have been added to the OP and they are linked over to the Heir World Tour thread where they were posted.
Enjoy and thanks Tom:

Congrats Lurkumaural! It's well deserved, that was a truly excellent read.
It actually made me remember back to the mid 70's when I was around 5 or 6, I had a hand me down 8 track and a pair of headphones in my room that I listened to music on so I wouldn't disturb anyone when I woke early in the mornings before everyone else. It didn't really work though because I ended up singing along with Abba at the top of my lungs waking everyone anyway. I loved Abba back then.

Good for him - it read like an honest, down-to-earth response without any pretension.

I think I like my 4.Ai's more than my UM Miracle's...
Super impressed by the clarity. More on them later...
