Heir Audio 4.Ai - Appreciation/Impression/Review Thread - Page 138

I was listening to these all day at work. They continue to impress. I wanted to point out that they respond very well to EQ. As I mentioned, their bass quantity is tuned lower than the UE900. But an EQ to boost bass by 3 or 4 dB still results in clean, distortion-free bass. just louder which can be nice for some genres or some moods. so there's room for people who aren't opposed to software EQ to shape the sound a bit without stressing these IEMs beyond their capabilities.

That's definitely good news. :)

This is highly embarrassing. Came in today to find a UPS missed delivery notice left by my room door! Checked unread emails (50+) and found an email from Sunny on 22 Jan confirming delivery redface.gif redface.gif redface.gif

For any fellow UK'ers the charge is £78.90 for my 4.ai+ order. Have to wait until Monday now lol

Hmm that's interesting.  With the ups charge (and it sounds like there's a fair chance you will get hit with them) then theres not THAT much difference when ordering either direct or through theheadphonecompany.  About £3!

Thats take the us value and add shipping.  Convert to £ and then add the £78.90 above.  Is that right or has my notoriously bad math let me down again (which wouldn't be the first time)?

That surprises me a little to be honest.

Cheers

I don't even think the headphone company even has the standard. To the best of my knowledge, they have never purchased any stock products.

Musicinmymind, perhaps you should also read IEM Round-up, in case you are hesitating between several IEMs :

Well that is useful but not if he wants impressions on the Heirs...

Used to love Westone um3x :) But had to sell them for financial issues. Will that 4ai or 3ai be a step forward than the um3x? Was enjoying dubstep with that and I dont wanna buy something that will kill my joy you guess.

Thanks

the westones are a little ahead of the 3.Ai in soundstage. The 3.Ais are just ok when it comes to soundstage. 3.Ais are smoother and darker sounding with a little less air, basically your warm and bassy sound. I enjoy the 3.Ais more but that's just me. Also been a while since I've heard the UM3x. But that's what i'd be going off of.

4.Ai bests the 3.Ai in just about every way except of course the bass. I find dubstep and EDM to be acceptable on the 4.Ais, though those are not genres i lean towards.

just an idea of how i see it =)

Woo! Finally got my hands on 4.Ai+. No proper sit down time until the weekend but first impressions are that it is absolutely beautiful. From memory even more knock out than my old Audio Technica ESW9 in the looks department. Well packaged, like the crushproof box and Heir logos details. Very initial sound impressions is that it is similar yet distinguishable from my PFE 232. The two are awfully close, which is a compliment as the PFE 232 are one of the best universal IEM available

Will stop there and allow time to form a proper informed opinion. Without saying too much but the Wizard's UK friend will be sending me their own 3.Ai for comparison

Very lastly it appears the "+" has become a permanent fixture on the Heir website across several IEM which is an excellent decision. Let the consumer choose how much money they want to spend biggrin.gif
