Cheap: Ety MC5 (from FR and impressions)
Bit More: Ety HF5
Bit More: Ety ER4 (from FR and impressions)
Risk: Tzar 350 (from its description hense risky)
CIEM/Expensibe: Leae LCM-5

I think the 4.Ai may be to bassy/warm not that it is very bassy or warm wink.gif

My current fav is what I consider the "RE262 on steriods" and that's the Sony 7550.  I love its less bright sound compared to the GR07, which I now consider too bright.   I particularly like the 7550's soundstage, smoothness, warm, forward mids and bass.   My problem is that for portability I have wind and wool cap wearing issues.   I'm looking for a portable 7550 and wonder if the 4.ai might fit the bill.    I realize its soundstage is probably smaller and that its more accurate, but is it much "brighter" or "trebly"  etc?   or am I "barking or climbing up the wrong tree"?   If its not the fit I'm looking for do you guys have any suggestions?   I've heard the Tralucent 1Plus2 would fit the bill, but the actual bill is $700!!LOL!

The 4.Ai is about as bright as the GR07. For what you need, look into the Aurisonics ASG-1 (make sure it's 1.2). It has the sound sig you describe in the 7550, with the bonus of fitting like a custom.

Will do Eke!!!   Thanks for the suggestion.  I also like the idea of a more comfy fit!!

If using 2cc measurements as the standard would one define a high Freq boost begining at 600Hz or 1K as a more "flat" response?

SOMEBODY needs to send Tyll Hertsen a care package with the Tzar 350 and the Ety ER4 for him to measure. If we're gonna fight this out, measurebator-style, let's at least get an independent third party to do the measurements before we start pointing at graphs.

If needed, I'll ship my 350's to Tyll if it can help get this thread back on track.

Use of the word flat assumes a diffuse field compensation applied to raw measurements. A raw measurement would show a boost beginning at about 1K and topping out at 2.7K, which is how sound is perceived from an average human ear in a diffuse field due to in-ear acoustic resonance. An iem blocks this effect and should therefore recreate it to sound accurate.

Of course I’m always open to competing theories. This one seems to have the most backing at this point.

You're a bit off there, the 1Plus2's are significantly more than $700.

Been looking to buy a pair of these or the Westone 4R. I've heard great things about both of them, with slight differences, both good and bad. While some make these out to be bigger than so from my own experiences. I'm also looking to buy a cable along with it, do any of you have some experience with certain types that you can recommend?

If we are good maybe Tyll will actually listen to them and talk about how they sound, not just how they measure.
Comedy option: measure them only and send them back straight away, post graph.
