I reckon you got lucky with the 3.Ai ;) Then the fitness is actually a handy thing all though insertion depth on these is not actually do dramatic although i do like them a little deeper. Dont you worry mate, i gave the 900s two days on there own when i got them and continued to use them even more building up the comparison but brought in the 4.Ai a lil bit and i am still using them as review soon, i know what i am doing :D

Still torn on the 3.ai vs the 4.ai.

How well could I EQ some bass into the 4.ai, If I decided to? :o

^^ that question will probably determine whether I purchase the 4.ai or not :P

The 4.A(i) has very nice bass and takes very well to bass boosts or EQ'ing. Although with the Black Friday deal The Wizard just posted, I'd go all the way with 4.A customs. Even with the best of tips, the comfort you get with customs is just on another level.

Hello,

I already have the 4ai,

Speaking about sound quality, does the 4A give something better/more vs the 4 ai?

I *think* Sinocelt is the guy who owns the 4.A and has tried the 4.Ai - he should be able to comment on any sonic differences, I can only tell you that the comfort on customs is way beyond anything you can get with universals. The downside is that you'll have to factor in the costs of shipping and impressions. You'll also be giving up the ability to let others try your headphones.

I'd say that the custom shell of the 4.A does a few things: (1) it gives you more even isolation throughout, so you can hear bass and treble extension better, (2) the "insertion depth" is set, so certain resonances brought about by the ear canal are minimized, improving overall transparency and imaging, (3) acrylic is a single, fairly acoustically neutral material, so furthermore, the FR and phase response won't be altered from what it was originally intended to be by silicone tips, (4) superior comfort for long term use.

Hi, can you recommend some DAPs or DAP>LOD>AMP to pair with the 4.As?

I wish to bass boost or EQ like what you have mentioned.

As long as you watch out for the output impedance, anything goes. I've used them with just about anything from the Clip+ to my Ibasso DX100.

Hmm what do I do now then......order some custom 4.A and sell my 4.Ai or stick with the 4.Ai.......decisions, decisions.

I wonder what the lead time on these will be at that sort of price.....don't fancy having to wait 3 or 4 months..

It was definitely a surprise that the two faceplates didn't really match like other sets that have been posted in this thread, but I quite like it! It makes me feel special, almost as if I special-ordered two different types of wood. regular_smile%20.gif If nothing else, it reminds me which piece goes into my right ear and which piece goes into my left! tongue_smile.gif

My first picture doesn't do the left earpiece justice. It's nowhere near that grainy (stupid camera/lighting). The second picture is much more accurate as to what it looks like in person.

That is the magic with these, they are unique ;)

Damn you Heir! That 40% discount is going to make it difficult to sell my 4.Ai
