Heir Audio 4.Ai - Appreciation/Impression/Review Thread - Page 68

My dad's 3.Ai's were supposed to go from San Diego, CA to Millbrae, CA, but UPS somehow sent them off to Illinois. Good ol' UPS... lol.

The gold crown is there, but thats all, no 4.ai

Thanks for the info

The Crown is still ingraved but the 4.Ai or the 3.Ai ingrave is no longer used.   We had to do this because the area where we did the ingrave work was so small, sometimes the laser would bleed over and hit the face plate. (yielding sub-optimal results)

So we decided to keep the crown, and the color of the crown would be the indication of the model. (gold for 4.Ai and metallic red for the 3.Ai)

Thus, if you have a gold crown, this indicates a 4.Ai, where as a red metallic crown indicates the 3.Ai. (this has always been the standard)

The SN# are not filled in with color, because we feel that would detract from the over all looks of the IEM.

Second impression after listening for a couple hours now; these are pretty much an easier-to-drive and better looking version of my ER4B. Sound characteristics are extremely similar.

New smaller carrying case for universal IEMs. Identical design to that of the larger carrying case, except for the single clasp. My apologies for the lackluster photo.

how much is the smaller case... out of interest.

Damn, I just ordered a smaller otter box for that purpose. Using the larger one that came with my 4.Ais yesterday as a pencil box lol

Hey Brannan,

Have you guys already begun shipping with those smaller cases? If not, is there any way I can get that one as a replacement and send back the larger case? :D

The US location has not begun shipping with the smaller cases, but will start in the next 1-2 days. I will have to speak to John about doing a switch.

Looks like satin. The wood, I mean, not the cloth! Can I post this picture on Heir Audio's Facebook page?

The smaller cases are a good idea. It might also be a good idea to give CIEM customers a choice between the large and small cases, unless it poses a problem for inventory management.

Pelican 1010 would be good size.

But then again, I don't mind the case. I can just whip it out of my bag with ease and have something else in there as well. Maybe some tips.

Yeah as a portable audiophile of sorts living in rainy Oregon, you can never have too many dry boxes!
