For that price range I'd be hesitant to recommend anything. You could get a power conditioner

that surge protects as well.

Most of the stuff I tend to go with is from surgex, however I've had some experience with

APC, worked brilliantly. A little more than you want to spend though.

Thanks paradox, I actually wouldn't mind spending an extra 50 I suppose. This unit you linked is a conditoner that surge protects?

Yep, it does both. has the led screen to show you voltage meter, surge warnings, etc.

I've always heard good things about brickwall products, I just don't have any personal experience with 'em.

Hopefully some others will chime in. biggrin.gif

Thanks Paradox, I'll def strongly consider that. Cheers for the feedback!

If you are hellbent on getting a UPS for your equipment, get it from someplace with a liberal return policy. Just in case you don't like what the UPS does to your SQ. I'm fond of the high end PSAudio products which don't degrade the sonics. I tried a few filters/UPS solutions before, just didn't like what those did to the SQ and dynamics. Ymmv

Surgex! The best conditioner you can get, one of few that doesn't use MOV's which just dump the surge to ground (and that will pop most switching power supplies), they use a giant inductor and a dissipation circuit. Filters out all the noise, too. They make a UPS with the technology built in.. but expect to pay.

Here's an article I wrote for my blog on the subject: http://adventuresinmodioland.blogspot.com/2010/03/power-conditioners-and-hype.html

I'm sorry PSaudio is just over glorified and over his budget. Surgex is one of the best, but again it's over his budget.

OP initially wanted a UPS, but getting anything other than a double conversion UPS is a waste. And again over his budget.

Claiming PSaudio is over glorified is a broad sweeping statement, and while Surgex might be "best", another broad sweeping statement, I do know, from my own experience, that at least some of their PS Audio power conditioner products do what they claim. The point I was trying to make, was that anything kskwerl might be thinking of putting between his audio equipment and power source, has the potential to degrade the sonics. So it would be wise to be get something that could returned if kskwerl didn't like the end result.

I'll be sticking with my over glorified PS Audio PPP for the time being.

Yea, no, it was my opinion. You're entitled to disagree. Anyways, the point being they're way over Kskwerl's budget. Which is why I didn't bring them nor Surgex up.

Use what you'd like, no need for the defense. tongue.gif
