If you buy the Stax again, we're all going to heckle you....evil_smiley.gif

Eh. It was more of a joke. The speakers will get more time than anything. I think I'll just get something that pairs well with the 300XS and be done with cans.

Plus, even if I did get Stax again...What are you guys really going to say?

HAHA YOU HAVE A GREAT SPEAKER SYSTEM AND 009s...Oh...wait...

This is fantastic news! The LG was one of the most satisfying pairings I'd ever heard with the HD800, and really the only "issue" I had with it was that it didn't seem appropriate for highly sensitive headphones due to the noise level. I just couldn't justify a purchase given that my primary dynamic headphones are mostly all very sensitive. Now that the issue has been resolved, I'm seriously considering picking one up now in black.

The 'stealth' look of the all black unit is absolutely stunning...

I've been enjoying mine ever since it arrived.  While I've had zero issues personally, I also don't have any incredibly sensitive cans that are also low impedance.  My 300Ω HD650's efficiency is rated at 103 db @  1Vrms (about 94 dB @ 1mW).  While it's pretty sensitive, it doesn't quite compare to Grados (32Ω - 98dB @ 1mW ) or the Denon D2000 (25Ω - 106dB @ 1mW).  The only noise I've ever heard through the amp has been fixed immediately by rolling tubes.  So maybe mine does have an issue, but it's one that (thankfully) has never affected me.  Still, I'll probably get it checked out.

I'm glad that more of us will now be using this wonderful amp!

I don't know how I could forget to mention this. I guess I was so happy to tell you all about the fix.

But, Don was the one who found the keys to the solution and he did most of work to figure out the steps to the fix allowing me to focus on getting CA back up again. This was no small amount of his time in the middle of family and work obligations (which, since Don is a real doctor, are many). There is nothing adequate that I can say in appreciation for his steadfast support (and the occasional the 7am phone call) through the challenges of the last several months. But Don knows, I hope, how grateful I am.

yes , he does. :)

I wonder if the problem was with the whole lot or just some LG?  Mine like jazzerdave said is free of any hum/issues or at least I can not hear it.  I have DT48 25ohms, and high impedance PMB 25II and some orthos.  None of them showed any signs of noise/hum in the sound.  Could I be just lucky?  The only problem I have is that the darn switch is sometimes hard to turn on and off in the beginning.

Great work on Don and Alex on fixing the issues that many owners have.  This show that this company is behind its products and are committed to fully supporting them.

Some claim no issues but Alex seemed to think it was in all the units, but if it's not there it's not there. Quite a few have reported not hearing it. I didn't in the proto unit I listened to even though Alex said it was there and we were using TH900s. confused_face_2.gif

It is true that some current LG owners are not hearing this buzz issue. I certainly can hear it in amps that I have in the workbench (before the mods), even though it is just a slight noise.

But, I want to be sure that you guys get an amp that is working the way it was designed to. So we will fix every amp, if the owner wants to, just be make sure that there won't be future problems. All new amps will have the mod and will be carefully listened to. wink.gif

And, now that I'm listening to LGs again I remember just how good they are. beyersmile.png

And you'll be bringing them to the Norris Center on March 2nd, right? :D

Yes, I think that if I don't do that, there may be an armed posse coming after me. After all, this is Texas. biggrin.gif

Good. Glad to have you confirmed and back to stay. Gonna be a lot of fun, and we've finally got that epic shootout... BHSE vs LL. Better bring your A game!

Glad it's all fixed. I sent mine back in December. Can't wait for it back. Been like amp less for months. ^^
