I've never had a tube amp and was thinking that maybe this is an interesting option to learn about tubes. Two questions:

- What's the best shop (website) to buy tubes in Europe?

- Is it correct my understanding that the Liquid Gold can double as a pre amplifier in my speaker system? Can anyone post a picture of the back of the amp?

Thanks.

Just to clarify , Liquid Gold is a solid state balanced amplifier, Liquid Glass is the tube hybrid, and yes it can function as a preamp = single pre out, tape loop out . Tubes can be found at many places, and because the LG can use a very large number of tubes, the options are going to be exhaustive.

And expensive.  Hate going on a tube spending spree.  Just brought half of the cost of the LG on tubes and didnt realized until the bill came.

Your amps were clearly my favorite at Can Jam 2012.  One thing I remembered and also forgot. I plugged my UE11's into either the Fire or Glass and with the volume at max 1 level the sound was very loud and I could not go any louder. You said to switch the amp. I forgot was the Fire or Glass the real loud one?

The other question is if you do a Glass amplifier with identical 6922 o ECC88 tubes from Fire, will both amps sound the same?

They won't sound the same as the LF isn't voice directly from the tube like the LG is. The LF's changes with tube rolling are nowhere near as significant as the LG's.

Yes it does have a pre-out. That's the main reason I want one. Other than an excuse to fiddle with dynamics (and tubes) again.

Got mine today.  I also picked up some Amperex 7308.  I think they sound better then the stock. :D

Overall it was very fun to try tubes.  Will have to try some others when I get back from vacation.

You are going to find many tubes that you like, this is the absolute best thing about this amp. The way I have started to feel about various tubes is that each has something unique to offer and it all depends on source material and headphones in use. I am assuming that you are running the 7308 like a 6922 at the lower HV setting , its specs are a little different than a typical 6922 but it should work equally well.

gotta love that site as a resource for data sheets on tubes.

I'm telling you that this amp is going to force you to have a pair of favorite tubes for each can.

And....

Here it is:

I'm still warming up and reading the manual (read the manual? - that doesn't sound like me). Anyway, I'm going to enjoy this for a bit, but I'll post more pics and thoughts once I've spent some time with it.
