Looking for recommendations for integrated amp/receiver

Thread Starter
I need a new home theater amp, mine has a terrible tendency to overheat and shut itself off and has developed a slight buzzing that is making me mental. And it's way out of warranty.

I have $1000 budgeted, and it has to include DTS and Dolby, as many digital inputs as possible. It would be great if it have a lot, like a ridiculous amount, of audio and video inputs.

Anyone have any recommendations?

the only ht receiver I found that sounded musical at all for under $1000 sounded better than many receivers costing far more. I bought a factory reconditioned one for under $600 4 months back and am very happy with it, it is the NAD 752. new I believe they are $800 or so.

btw, it has a headphone out on it that does well with my rs1's, haven't tried my er4s's with it.

it has a zillion modes of audio output, including both formats you require. it also has proprietory modes created by NAD that offer good alternatives.

I'm driving some B+W speakers with it, but have tried it with some old altec lansings and kef 105.2's and it sounded very good with them all.

I would go for NAD. They are the best bang for buck in just about every product they do. Otherwise Marantz or Yamaha.
