The JVC HA-S500 thread. - Page 468

WS99 has better mids, less aggressive highs but also less sub bass (hence the descriptions of a "quick" bass response). So if you love the S500 sub bass, the WS99 will not necessarily be an upgrade IMO. For home use only the Philips Fidelio X1 could be interesting, i haven't heard them though.

I was looking into getting these headphones as a portable, and when I saw that TrollDragon has them, I figured that I can't go wrong.

Anyway, how do these compare to the V-Moda M80's in terms of SQ? I know it's not a fair comparison considering these are $50 and the M80's are $140, but I just want to know if the M80's are worth the $100 difference.

Dsnuts did a comparison and the s500 won in all categories

Are they seriously that good? $50 beats an all-time head fi favorite like the M80's? Not doubting, just kinda surprised lol.

Well, it is the person who started the thread. There could easily be some bias going on there tongue.gif

Pick them up, they are a great portable, $35 + Shipping! You can't loose and if you don't like them give them to a family member or to someone with Apple earbuds and make their life whole and complete.

Got mine from here:

I like the stock pads and don't have any problem with them, some like the ATH-WS55 pads if you can get a pair at a reasonable price, be aware that they are $6.40 a PAIR from AT US Parts so careful what you pay for them.
Others seem to like the HD25 velours, but don't even bother with the HM5 pad foolishness... I also read that the ESW9 leather pads are supposed to fit as well...

Check them out stock first then get some other pads to try if you don't like them. wink.gif
