Its funny how easy it is to transform these into real life giant killers.

Could not agree more, tape tape tape, stuff stuff stuff, pad pad pad and call it a day.

Man thanks a ton for that tape mod, my S500s are literally rockin'!!! I can wear these all day long now and they drive so easily straight from my ipod classic/ nano, crazy.  I am not tempted by any of the new fancy phones that are out, no need for a upgrade. ha Unless JVC comes out with a 50mm over-ears full size sets. LoL

But but those AKGs sound amazing from what i have read for now. haha Well at least the 167s that is. Too bad AKG always like to mess around and not make the cable detachable, for a $200 pair of cans that should be a given nowadays. If the 167s drop down to like $150 man it might be actually worth getting.

ATM I am extremely content, but always good to do more research.

Might order the pads already, even though I haven't even bought the S500s.

Btw, is buyfromjapan a good seller to get them from?

I bought my HAS500 from them, and after two weeks, yesterday they were at my home in Madrid (Spain).

I also noticed ridiculous shipping fees from Amazon sellers to me in South Africa (like $80!), so that was out. Ace_of_bicycle on eBay was great. Even if he doesn't list shipping to your country, you can contact him to find out the price. When you buy the headphones, the shipping won't be a part of that quote, so you don't pay with Paypal immediately, but he will send you another quote with included shipping that you can then pay over Paypal.

I finally got my HM5 pads (and R1)! They had been sitting at my post office for 10 days and I hadn't received notification of a parcel. Anyway, super comfortable, but seems to bring out the treble a bit more again. Which depresses me, because they had tamed sufficiently for my listening :frowning2:.

I know people have tried pad-on-pad and sewing up and stuffing with cotton. What are the differences/ benefits? I just slipped mine over the silly Sennheiser pads I had on and they fit perfectly (the sennheisers are also oval). But maybe they're part of what's increasing the treble?

Sewing is just a schlep, so I don't want to do it unless there are real benefits.

Thanks, they took too long to answer my questions. Plus they dont send it as a gift so there might be customs issues and on top of that the shipping quote they gave me is ridiculous.

Luckily there is a much better seller of these on eBay that I found yesterday, he replied to my EMS quote straight away and said he would send it as a gift so I'd have no delays or other problems.

Btw guys, can one of you listen to this prog-trance track with your S500s and tell me how it sound pleaassee :p

Great news then! What was the total cost of the HPs+EMS? I wasn't satisfied by the prices that I had already found

Yeah, he seems to be a great communicator. Answered all my messages almost straight away, others he apologized for not answering quicker.

Total was $52.20 for the S500 + $25 for EMS shipping. All others quoted shipping above that. Buyfromjapan quoted me $35.

Btw, the seller I'm talking about is jp-ken. He has both of the colour options available but only the black one is listed on eBay. :)

Does "it sounds friggin' awesome" work for you? I went onto soundcloud and listened to that track. Soundcloud has kept on playing related tracks. Thoroughly enjoyable for me with my S500 configuration (ath pleathers and vents taped). I don't think you'll be disappointed

Ah that sounds awesome. If you want some similar tunage, then click the mixes link in my sig.

So you would recommend the ATH pleathers instead of the HD25 adidas blue ones?? Coz I was actually thinking of buying them instead. :p

Yeah man, he seems to have the cheapest shipping out of them all.

Hope that yours arrive soon mate. :)

Does anyone have a photo of how they sit on the head, from the front that is? And please don't link the dude with the 'sock mod'.

This is the one I found:

Look pretty cool if you ask me.
