I will buy these cans in a few days, but please tell me:

DO they sound like the HA-FXD80 (which I love dearly)?

Can the be modded to be around ear?
If yes, any tutorial?

Thanks for taking time answering me.

They sound like on-ear FXD80s.

How are the S400s compared to these? Is it worth having both or are they too similar? Plus, other than the HM5 mod which will make this over ear, what on ear mods can be done to the S500?

Play fast, banging tunes through them at about 80% volume. Trance, drum and bass, hardcore... etc

No amp is required.

I've read that it's bad to plug headphones around 30 ohms into the hifimediy... Puts more wear and tear on the device because it switches currents to adjust with lower omhage.

They just got delivered to my home, but I'm going to be out until 8 tonight... ugh. Well, I post my impressions tomorrow!

I'm new to head phones so I'm trying to understand sound signature and which one I prefer.  I have the JVC HA-S500 and Monoprice 8323.  Are these considered Analytical, Balanced, Bass, Mid, or Warm + Sweet?  I got these terms from this thread:

Those are both dark and warm, with a focus on bass.

Hi,

I have a couple of questions I want to ask you guys before buying these headphones-

-First, are they good for Rock and metal?

-Can anyone post/link a comparison between these and the ATH M50?

Also, I have a Fiio E6 amp, will these headphones benefit from it?

Thanks a lot smily_headphones1.gif

Well got my hm5 pads today

After an hour an a half of screwing around with elastic bands and yarn I said f it and used glue gun to attach them on top of the old pads. They look so stupid now but comfy :P

anyone have WS55 pads that want to trade for either the hm5 or akg pads?
