ehhhh... I don't like looking ridiculous.

I can't wait to compare them to the amperiors and M-80's.

Probably end up modding/tuning them extensively to make the sound right rolleyes.gif

^ That's what's great about these S500s, you can mod them like crazy and they're receptive to simple mods like pad changes like no other. And it all sounds great but just gives you different sound siggy. Truly a wonderful set of cheapos that modsters would love.

i made some plans and had to make a phone call to get my stuff. my headphones were packed with my stuff and when I pulled them out there was a white scratch about an inch long. Mine are black but its only noticable close up.

I find it amazing that it has been 9 months since this thread started, and these are the still the recommended headphones at their price point.  I just paid for a used pair with WS55 pads.  Can't wait!

Hello!
I have an old Creative Zen mp3 player with audio settings EQ Disco + bass boost.
I'm still using the original earphones.

I want to buy headphones with heavy bass, deep, extended, and the treble is not annoying. I would like to spend less than 60 or $ 70.

I tried the AKG K518 LE, I did not like because the sound was a little full-bodied and dynamic, also with the volume at 25 (max) of the mp3 player, it was like 18 with earphones, and I could not appreciate the sound .

Is a good choice the Jvc ha-s500 or are better than the Creative Aurvana Live or Sony XB500?

The Jvc ha-s500 are available only shipped from Japan, to guarantee how it works?

Heavy Bass... XB500 for sure.
Better sound, S500 straight out of Japan!

Here's my view since I was originally going to purchase the XB500, but ended up going with these HAS500s. Now, I also ordered the XB500 and it will be here tomorrow.

When I first opened the HAS500s and listened to them, I wasn't blown away. I thought I bought just an average pair of headphones that all these people were hyping up. I put the Sennheiser Adidas blue pads on them so they look cool but I wasn't "wow'd" by the sound at all. However, after burning these in for over 100 hours now, I can tell you that they sound amazing. I was surprised to hear things in music that I hadn't noticed before. I'm blown away at how amazing the new Daft Punk album sounds with these. You can just tell that you're hearing music the way it was supposed to be heard, even though these aren't the most neutral phones you can get. For 90% of the music I listen to, I'm going to use these. I'm actually picking up another pair in gunmetal soon.

The reason I'm also getting the XB500 is because I also listen to some really bass heavy EDM... electro-house, glitch hop, and even some rap.  Sure, I could probably get much better bass canons for $200+ CAD, but I found these at a good price. For this last 10% of music I like, I want bass that rattles my ears. Since I heard that the XB500 EQs nicely, and since the bass is already in them, and considering the price, buying these is a no-brainer for me. I also rockbox'd my sansa clip+ so I have great EQ options to work with.

tldr - For all quality, live instrument music that I want to listen to, I will use my HA-S500s. For synthesizer/bass heavy music, like some EDM stuff, where I want my ears to rattle, I will use my XB500s.

Maybe it was all in my mind, but I remember my immediate reaction listening to them was, "Oh, ffs...I guess these are okay." confused.gif

Then I started listening to my FLAC collection and I was blown away. I was hearing things I never heard before through my crappy headsets. I can't seem to take these headphones off now. smily_headphones1.gif

Nah my initial impressions of these sounded like poop as well, the bass was slow and muddy, with lackluster highs, etc. I was like man they suck but i knew better and once i start cooking them lordy lord!!! basshead.gif Fell in love with them ever-since. But i am sure my mind just MADE them sound better cuz i wanted them to sound great. wink_face.gif
