In comparison the JVC FXD70 is more detailed, have less grain, better imaging, more transparency and are clearly better sounding to me.

I can also wear them for hours with foam tips whilst these get uncomfortable pretty quick even with HD25 velour pads and loosening the grip.

But, I can tell you that your trance will sound absolutely awesome on it basshead.gif

Who's your US buddy?

Just got the S500... noticed that i don't like them at all right out of the box.. the bass is so bad and muddy.. guitar sounds lost all the textures and dynamics.. i will give time to burn them in before i judge.

and also disappointed at the highs,, snare drum sounds really behind..

srsly,, am i getting the real S500??

I haven't heard of fakes and I don't think there are any. I do like the s500 a lot though - bass isn't muddy and has a very good texture and the highs are fairly extended and smooth

No, not yet!

I felt the same way when I first got mine. Let them burn in for a few hundred hours (seriously). They DO change with a lot of burn in. Both the bass and treble improve a lot.

Also, many (me included) find the bass with the stock pads to be too much. Get the ATH pleather pads (if you still want on ear) because they balance the sound out further by reducing the bass and taming the treble somewhat. And they are more comfortable than the stock pads. After burn in, and after putting on the ATH pleathers, they will be like completely different headphones.

Or if you would prefer very comfortable over the ear pads, go for the HM5 pads and put them right over the stock pads (you will also want to get a couple of rings to help hold the pads on - links provide a few pages back). The sound is similar to using just the ATH pleather pads.

Then you will have the real S500!

Thanks for the advice wayne.

i'm not planning to get the HM5 since they make S500 look huge.

Where can i get the ATH pleather pads?

how about the HD25 Velour pads? (personally i like Velour pads for comfort)

Imo you lose detail and gain a veil with the velour pads. You can try them though.

These are the ATH pleathers:

Finally, I'm not alone. I don't like the sound either and my ears start burning after 20 min with the stock pads. Still burning them though. 90 hours ....

Where sfwalcer! The man should be helping me out here lol!

Well, to be honest if you don't like them after 90 hours you won't like them after 500 hundred more. As far as your ears burning then you're lucky you didn't order the HM5 pads but if you can't handle an on-ear apir of headphones for 20 minutes then you shouldn't be using cans or at least  with anything else but velour pads

LoL, what can you do. It's all about the initial burn-in for these. But people don't seem to read the thread and on that note.  ph34r.gifpopcorn.gif

See this is what Ds gets for putting ALL glowing positive initial impressions/ reviews on the 1st page. Just try to READ the thread 1ST PEOPLE, before flaming these S500s.

edit: maybe we can get koreanzombi's input on this LMAO

WJE hated them at first, but later became better than his beloved modded Senn 412's but sold them as he couldn't stand on ear design...
