Only approx 5 have gotten them in yet not including Dsnuts. A very small sample size to be saying anything from. Although those people do have credentials. Until more get them we will see but most hype trains start out this exact same way

I find that approximately 3-5 more non headfiers end up getting said hyped headphone for every headfier that buys one. There for at current rate of buying. Japan should have a shortage here toward the end of this month..That is just a guess. Unless they started ramping up production on the nanotube farm.

 

The reaction to these headphones on these threads. Well minus this one is the, not interested as they arent portapros. The same reaction I got when I introduced the Mp8320. Whatever happened to hearing new stuff for once..Cus it is just my opinion but new in this case is so much better than old. But thats just me I suppose. People can be skeptical all they want..I am just happy I got me a pair. With velours yes glorious velours.

 

I played 5 hours of Skyrim Downguard today with my HA-S500. That is straight. I might add. After a while I didn't want to take off my headphones..I did take a break to releave and replenish of course.

Dsnuts has been right about two other headphones that I bought based on his recommendation, the JVC HAS600 and the Audio Technica WS55....so this purchase was a no-brainer for me. I just wish mine would hurry up and get here! L3000.gif

Not sure if this matter has been previously discussed in this thread,

but as an engineer I'm very curious as to how the Carbon nanotubes are used in these headphones!

 

I know that Carbon nanotubes can act as a sound transducer just by themselves using the Thermal acoustic effect.

It is also a very good material for making the diaphragm for a Dynamic transducer.

The only time I have heard it at anything like approaching real thing was on Klipschorns at my friend's and to somewhat lesser degree on Infinity IRS V at audiofair in Milan, Italy. Not that listening to cannonfire represents any appreciable portion of my listening, but it proves JVC HA-S500 has enough headroom even in bass to be able to correctly reproduce any musical instrument. And equally important, ability to play at very quiet level(s) at the same time - my definition of Delicate Sounds of Thunder.

 

I did not have the audacity to ask anyone to try 1812, now it seems like it will at least not end up in smoke on this track. How does it survive the Das Boot digitally remastered soundtrack on DVD ? If one quarter of what guys who have it say is true, this should scare the s***t out of the listener.

 

And if it really is true, I will use it for monitoring of forthcoming recording of the new mass by a young Slovene composer, scored for children and female choruses, organ, brass band, electric bass and extremely large percussion section. The finale with big drums is awesome - I was wondering just what could possibly give it justice. 

 

If it proves to be true, this will be all time bargain purchase and best overall purchase in my audio history spanning 35 + years.

 

Simply - nuts ( pun very much intended) !

When I ordered through Ebay (Ace of Bicycle 2004) my delivery estimate was late Aug - late Sept. My shipment was accepted in Tokyo on the 13th, passed through customs in San Fran yesterday and is out for Delivery here in Sonoma, CA today. If you paid for EMS it shouldn't take more than 4-5 days at the most in the US.

So how is everyone's burn in going? Test them out ya'll. Do it and report porfavor. You guys should have at least 30-40 hours. Oh and don't worry too much about loud volumes damaging these headphones..I wouldn't necessarily use max volume for the whole time burn in but these can handle some loud volumes with ease.

I've been burning it in for about 30 hours now with pink noise.. planning to leave it alone until it hits around 80-100 hours mark.

Briefly played FPS game last night and it gave me great sense of positional depth with plenty of details.

My ASG-1 is slightly better at portraying 3D-ness, but still very close.

You know I remember a few of the guys in the discovery thread burning in the FX40 and on the FXD80 thread. A couple of the guys tried using colored noise with some mixed results on the carbon nanotube earphones..They ended up using bass heavy tracks to solve the burn in issue..Try throwing some bass n drum heavy tunes mixed in..I just read a report from rickdohc who burned his FX40 at loudish volumes for 70 hours. Didn't change much and after almost 400 hours of non stop 100% volume he got a real smooth sounding FX40. Which is what I got after 200 hours of Drum n bass for my pair. I think perhaps normal headphones and earphones only require 100 hours. Carbon nanotubes I would say need more like 200 hours.

 

Carbon Nanotubes be very stiff drivers so I would actually be some what aggressive on the burn in.  100% Max volume on my Sony Z1060 is like 75% volume of my laptop burn in station. I have that cranked to 85% all day and night.
