However that price tag puts me off straight away, lets hope the quality will be astronomical because if it isn't I'm not even gonna consider it.

its supposed to SQ no compromise and enough to power the he-6, and put its rivals to shame eg. fostex
it is cheaper than a CLAS/mk3 combo though

Hey Geko, the upcoming Fiio X3 is coming up soon. It has a GORGEOUS casing. It should sound a step above the E17, and has a micro SD slot. It's small at a tad bigger than the iPhone 4, and a little thicker. Also has physical buttons. A Coax out, and should cost $180.

Ok so I've read 11 pages of this thread and you guys have convinced me to get the s500 over the ws55... The only thing I am concerned about is the repair of they stop working. I was always a cheap iems person,so I would toss them when they messed up (which has always been around 3 months) , but I want a good set of headphones now after having some skullcandy hesh 2 I thought there has to be something better out there so I am happy I found you guys. So anyway, how easy would a repair be if all of a sudden one side started getting cut off?

That won't happen, but if it does, all you need to do is rewire it, and also it will make it sound better.

Hi mate,

Yeah that looks well nice. Doubt it would be able to beat my iPod 120GB with its storage capacity lol

I doubt that will ever happen, I've been following this thread for a while and hasn't happened to anyone.

The build on these cheap wonders is amazing so it really shouldn't be too hard to repair if something goes wrong.

No problem. I'm sure its going to be a killer device, as long as Fiio can deliver on the software side of things. The hardware is pretty good and it looks really nice.

Same thoughts as you, and hardware buttons mean it will work even with a Schiit UI.

You can buy silver plated copper, which has the best price-performance at numerous websites, but I haven't boughten any, so Google's your friend. You also need to buy a 3.5 mm jack, and then solder the wire to the jack, open the headphones, unsolder the previous wire from the driver, and solder the new one back on.

note that the cable isnt detachable
so you do have the solder/ make the cable yourself, as listed above
they are very capable without upgrading the cable already

Huh. I was considering this "HD 25 Adidas Original" deal for $150:

But reading the above just saved me $150 :)
