If you can get these in the states for that price, they will sell like hot cakes since BRAINWAVZ is asking for like $150 for them and people on head-fi have given them really great reviews. The same applies for the Fischer Audio cuz they are the same headphone so........ It is a good point you brought up but this seems impossible to get for that price. Do they even sell these headphones in Asia??? I tried looking them up at taobao.com, etc and no one seems to sell them, hmmmm that's strange since they sell all kinds of junk so I am really surprised that no one carries this supposedly great sounding set since it is made there.

Umm...nope. This is the US price. It's a $20 shipping charge, I think. I have a pair.

The AUS price is higher, the UK price is lower.

The only reason that they don't sell is that people don't know they exist.

yeah did some research, total comes to around $70 shipped, I rather get another set of S500s for this price. LoL

edit: hmmm then why is Brainwavz selling them for so much more here in the states, normally they have really great prices but they seem to be asking for wayyy too much for this set of headphones esp. with shipping from AUS it only cost like $70. If I didn't have so many sets of HPs already i would be really tempted but.......... LoL

Yes pretty much. Just more natural sounding in the higher end. They are a bassy headphone and they do it well, so if that is what you are looking for then yes they are better then again it can always be lessened with eq. They are an over ear headphone so they have that immediate advantage over the S500 in terms of soundstage and even bass imo.

For the price, the S500 really is an excellent headphone, but if spending 3X the price is within your budget the UE6000 are really a very nice set of closed cans with portability.

Oh, yea guys, not S500 but guys I gave a pair of S400 to a friend. She thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread..... not bad for $25 (btw what was the greatest thing BEFORE sliced bread?)

Ok...and I'm assuming the M100 would beat both of them?

How do the S500's sound vs the Phiaton MS400?

What is the S500 sound sig with the stuffed pads like compare to an M50?

Cheers

guess I will ask this again as it wasn't answered:  How do you put on the hm5 pads?  I have a pair of hm5's and have the spare pads, so this could be a cheap mod for me (once I save up for the s500's that is....damn bills).

Those MS400's are one of my favorite portables. They have less sparkle than the S500 actually a unique sounding slightly laid back high end to be honest but I really liked them as a bassy portable with decent midrange. The bass extension and impact are impressive for a small portable and I generally preferred them over the S500 by a bit. Oddly enough they fit me more like a large on ear than an over ear. I don't know how anyone's ears can fit inside those little cups.

The M50 on the other hand I enjoyed listening to the S500 over the M50. The S500 is just more fun sounding and musical, but in general i don't care for the M50 too much compared to some of the other phones higher on my list in that price range.

@doc

hey what happened to your HM5 pads with these S500s? Remembered you mentioned you got them but didn't see any impressions. frown.gif

I know buddy. I was hoping no one would notice smily_headphones1.gif...

I have them and I liked them right away until I started feeling fatigue after only about 15 mins. I know I must be losing seal so I was going to play around with it some more and try a couple things before I posted anything. Getting too open of a sound and you already know how I feel about opening these up. They are designed to be closed IMO and hashness sets in if not kept that way. Just haven't had the time to tinker with them just yet. To be continued.

Do the HM5 pads just fit right on? Or does it require more work than that? Because I would love to hear the S500s with an over-ear design.
