Indeed, this is one thing I often forget to mention when people ask should they go for Clip+ or Clip Zip......the Zip uses the micro-USB connector, which is used by so many cell phones now that probably anywhere you go you could find a charger. Good of you to point that out! beerchug.gif

This is the exact reason I just bought a Clip Zip. I have a Fuze which I really like, but the proprietary connector is annoying.

 

Having the same connector as my phone is a big plus. $35 from Amazon and showed up the day after ordering. Popped in a 32gb card, and we're good to go.

well all my fiio products use full size usb so works out fine for me cus I always have a charger around anyway. In fact I use a FiiO L11 on my ipod and I charge and sync my ipod with a full sized usb connector as well.

I think the WS55 has more bass overall, but next to the S500, it sounds veiled, almost muffled....mids and highs are more prominent in the S500, so it has a much more balanced sound. (at least to my ears).

Pad on Pad

Being using them all they. Comfort is much better, covers all my ears, no swetty ears.  Happy for now.

 

Downside?  to much bass for me.!  my ears are shacking!   seems like it creates a "chamber" and the bass is louder now! cool.gif

Well i ordered the HM5 pads. Think I'll put the black padding back on my S500 then pimp out my S400's with the Adidas Blue stuff. Hope sound wise that all works out. Then again, as long as it looks cool, who cares right Dre?

Odd "feature" i guess but I love that if you drop the little bugger, it doesn't violently rip the iems out of your ears, (or even worse damage the cable).... Ive had a couple scary tugs on my iems that way. You can practically let the thing dangle from the cable comfortably it is so light.

 

Lol! It being so light is a benefit - one that I'm still getting used to (but in a happy way).

 

I was having some trouble getting my clip zip rockboxed, but I finally decided to closely follow the instructions, and mission accomplished. One thing that I am quite happy about is the ability to save different EQ presets for different headphones (maybe you can do that on the stock clip zip - not sure). Saving the presets was not working for me until I realized that they need the ".cfg" suffix - we're learning! And now I just have to learn how to effectively use the parametric EQ.

 

I think you asked earlier if anyone else has had their rockboxed clip hang and drool. I have had that happen a few times just today while listening to some tunes. Possibly it has something against Genesis Lamb Lies Down On Broadway? Reboots were required (which thankfully is easy to do). I am using the 32GB card (filled with tunes) that I had in my Samsung Galaxy S2. Possibly I should re-format the card.

Sweet, I have two extra HM5 sets of pads at home already (since I use the Shure Velour Pads instead on them).

 

Have to order my HAS400W soon!

Coby Pads + Microsoft LiveChat LX300 pads

 

Bigger than Coby/Stock Pads, covers all my ears no problem.
