haha I just noticed that it only goes up to positive 6 dbs, damn you are scaring me now.
Yeah I normally listen to my music on the clip + with zero bass/ trebel boosts and volume at lower 20s dbs for IEMs but was messing around with it on my S500s to get that lush bassy FX40 sound and that setting was gold for me. Well I turn it down to -14 sometimes when the music is really well mastered but it's on -13 for most of the time, am I going deaf??? ahahahahahaWhat volume do you set your sansa when listening with your S500s with no amp? For me when the volume is on lower 20 db is too thin/ soft. So it has to be in the lowered to 16 to 13 to get the right sound. Trying it now on zero treble/ bass and on volume -13 sounds like my ipod classic/ nano, kinda thin in sound, not enough body. Damn you have me crazy concerned now. ha

Quote:I think you are right. They get plenty loud with just the Rockbox Clip+ I have. This is the benefit of the S500. It does not need an amp to boost the volume of the Clip+.
Although I guess if someone wanted bass boost, then the E11 would make sense. (I can't imagine why with how much bass they already put out. )

Ok good idea.. Come with the ideas fellas. It will be interactive. You guys are the ones calling it whatever. We need some excitement in these threads. I will change the thread title to whatever you guys name it. Come with the ideas. And I will consider it all. Hows about the first ever Carbon NanoClip day. Play with your NanoCLIP Day. Brought to you by the hard working members of Headfi.org. Music impressions from your portable. A day we share what we listen to using our HA-S500. Sounds fun.

Since everyone have clips we all should do something fun on this thread. How about Clip n HA-S500 night..So you guys that have them with clips and E11 we all listen at the same time and then we report back. Anyone game? We will pick one day and everyone get your HA-S500 on with what ever mod pads with a clip. Anyone?
Better yet I will wait till you get your clip and then I will pick a day for this. Who's in.? Just get one Gee.
Thinking of it!
I recently have downloaded some tunes off of iTunes, and I used iTunes to rip some cd's. The files are "MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a)" format. I think that's the same thing as "Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) " files.
Anyway, this is what the Sansa Clip+ says:
http://www.sandisk.com/products/music-video-players/clip-plus/
Quote:Compatible with a Variety of Formats
The Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player is compatible with a wide variety of formats, including MP3, WMA, secure WMA, and Audible. It even lets you enjoy high-fidelity formats, such FLAC and Ogg Vorbis, without needing to compress and convert your files. And this is what the Sansa Clip Zip says:
http://www.sandisk.com/products/music-video-players/clip-zip/
Quote:Compatible with a Variety of Formats
The Sansa Clip Zip MP3 Player is compatible with a wide range of audio formats, including MP3, WMA, secure WMA, AAC (for playing back DRM-free iTunes music), Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, and Audible. You'll be able to enjoy music in crisp fidelity without having to compress or convert your files. The player has also been optimized for use with Rhapsody® and comes with a free Rhapasody Music trial offer**.Am I correct in thinking that I would have to get the Zip in order to join in on the Clip party?

Quote:The Clip+ amp/DAC test by that guy that is longer on head-fi is quite insightful. It compares measurements directly with the iPod Touch, and the Clip+ scores better on some metrics than the iPod, such as no clipping at maximum output. Might be why the Clip+ doesn't seem to need an amp with the S500s.

Yeah so in the end I've decided to go with the Clip Zip as I prefer the bigger screen plus it being in full colour. It looks nicer to me too.post #1813 of 64839/30/12 at 7:14pm- Doc-holliday

Don't get me wrong. The S500 doesn't "need" an amp with the 4thgen touch. I run it straight off the ipod at just about half volume and I don't experience noticeable distortion at that level.
It is no mystery why the E11 sounds better IMO when the E11 outputs roughly 20X the power the clip puts out into 16 ohms.
I would love to do a test if I can get my hands on one. I tend to think that the e11 will improve your sound experience on both models but I don't doubt that it is possible the clip can outperform a 4th gen touch or 6th classic. Maybe someone at work has one.post #1814 of 64839/30/12 at 7:22pm- cel4145
