Enter to Win an Heir Audio an All New 4.Ai - Page 2

Wow. These look like a pair of phones I'd love to have.

I have Sennheiser 650s, Ultrasone Pro 900, and Klipsch s4i's.

The Sennheisers are for all around sound quality and music enjoyment. The Ultrasones are for when I want an extra kick while playing video games or watching an action flick. And the Klipsch are obviously for travel.

My IEMs (W3, TF10) shows that I am a person after a fun, entertaining presentation of music.

My headphones (2 modded Fostex T50RPs, modded Grado SR60, woody magnum V3) say that I am a tinkerer, and appreciate the joys of custom made sounds.

For the most part, I demand the utmost accuracy possible for the best placed dollars.  I want to hear the musician tapping away their feet, the sound of the pedals on a piano being pressed ever so gently - every nuance I can possibly get I want.

Cool... I've been on the fence about actually picking up some Heir 4.As as my first custom, but it's hard to decide as I'm not sure if a totally neutral IEM would mesh with my tastes...

Most days I'm just using my EPH-100s straight out of my 11" MBA.  I'm an independent software consultant always on the move so it's crucial my setup is minimal and distraction-free.  Also have some Thunderpants and Edition 8s for home use as well as some JVX FXD80s on the way, but eventually I'll be getting rid of all my gear and just go IEM all the time, hopefully one special custom that is with me for the next several years as I grow in my profession.

I have Koss PortaPros.  I think it says that, "I like good sounding headphones.  If I could conveniently carry full size headphones I would, but since I can't its the portapros."

A decent pair of headphones elevates the discerning music fan from the indiscriminate consumer of generic pop dregs.

I pride myself in my love of musical pioneers and truly individualistic, honest, creative endeavors. My Yuin PK1 show my love of the warmth and spirit in Jazz, particularly Free Jazz from the late sixties and early seventies under the Impulse label. My Blox M2C show my delight in detail and in depth immersive listening experiences found in seventies German experimentalists, Jamaican Dub producers and mid-to-late nineties British folk-tronica.

The promised detail in these IEMs piques my interest...:)

These are the HD 598s. As you can see, these are eccentric-looking: people either love them or hate them. I tend to move towards uniqueness and distinction in every aspect of my life - music, appearance, knowledge, etc. - and owning these headphones is no exception. I'd hate to be forced to buy a headphone that looks cliche and doesn't take any risks at looking great.

Notice my name? The HD 598 is like a nimble turtle. Its laid back in sound - slow -  but it sounds faster than all the other Sennheisers (which were just too slow for me). Okay just kidding. What I said just before was all BS that I just thought of on the spot. There's some truth to it though.

I usually lose my appreciation for the various objects I have. The HD 598 remains an exception. I use these everyday for movies, gaming, and music. This is the most diverse headphone I know. Music wise, you cannot help appreciate its wide soundstage. I knew before I got these headphones that I needed something that could do well in the classical genre, before everything else. These fulfilled my wishes and BEYOND. These are absolutely fantastic for alternative music, acoustics, jazz, R &B, etc. A little slow for metal but considering its sheer diversity, I am impressed. Overall, I've never heard a headphone that is able to balance listening fatigue and engagement/ excitement as well as the HD 598.

Despite its "mid-fi" status (a biased expression among head fi'ers imo), I would consider any future headphones I buy to be a sidegrade compared to these. These are one of a kind headphone, and you can tell how much I appreciate them.

That is not the case AT ALL.  This contest is sponsored by Heir Auidio and is specifically for the world wide Head Fi community.

My headphones say that my tastes range from dead neutral to completely colored while requiring the best performance and timeless styling.

Those are gorgeous.  I hope they sound as good as they look.

What do my headphones say about me?  This is from What's your stereotype?.  It's about the kind of music I listen to but I think it also applies here.

My journey into head-fi led me down many roads. One road started with Grado ladder where I've owned all the Prestige and and Reference models and at the end of the road, my RS2 represents the natural, warm, and organic sounds as if sourced from vinyl.  Another road lead me down to a list of earbuds where my Yuin PK1 still stands supreme that defies perceived product and sonic capability values. Finally, after a long list of mid to top tier IEMs', a single moving BA stands next to the PK1 and RS2, the Ortofon EQ-5.  All three combined, they represent a fellowship and a means for the pursuit of natural and organic sound signatures that endures.

I think they show that you care about and love music if you're willing to put in good money. Music is my life. Each CD (or record or reel tape or cassette, I use all four) represents another place in the universe(s) I can be, they transport me. I will say though that I can enjoy music with almost anything that can be used to play it, so let's give these to someone who is new(er) to this game and let them have the chance to enjoy the experience of wonderful music through high quality 'phones that hasn't had the chance yet.

My headphones say that I care about how my music sounds. As a musician myself, I only settle for the best. Nothing is better than hearing amazing audio flood directly onto your ears. It's a sensation I can't get enough of. My headphones say that there is a wide variety of ways I listen to audio. From bass heavy to balance to mid-strong.

I'll listen to absolutely everything, and despite having plenty of high-end gear to go around I still love to get down and dirty with some mid-fi glory. I never ignore a piece of gear based on its price, and I love to give everything I listen to an equal chance at impressing me.
