The K550s sound fantastic, but they're not really good "on-the-go" phones. They're very sensitive to position on your head (and sealing), so any head movements will make your sound cut in and out. The isolation isn't that great either; I sit in an office workroom and need to add a decent amount of volume to drown out the two chatterboxes sitting next to me.

Correct, that and that stupid upper mid resonance that ruins everything once you realise it.

BeyerDynamic DT1350? Or IEMs...

Have you considered Denons?

Dude the Dx000 series is definitely NOT a good recommendation, and I know, I'm known as a bit of a Denon man.

Bassy, isolating, comfortable? But then again, you've probably had more experience than me.

The DT1350 are one of the best portables, and have great isolation to boot. They have rather high clamping force though.

The V-Modas don't isolate well (I own them, they do many things well but not isolation). I tried out the DT770s with my HTC Sensation and they sounded like they need to be amped. Denons don't isolate well. Ultrasone Pro 900s perhaps? For the price, it might be worth it to get the DT770s+amp instead, as they are really comfortable.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't like the bass of the TMA-1 at all. It was rolled off and lacking depth, muddy, one-note bass. However, I don't think I was able to get a perfect seal since they fit awkwardly on my head, but all the above comments still held true when I pressed the cups against my ears with my hands...

Non portable, leakage, large, loose fit, long cable, won't isolate from subway noise.
