The Beyerdynamic 32-Ohm models (DT770 or DT880) usually need a decent headphone amplifier to sound their best.

SRH-940 has gobbs of detail, but isn't fantastic in the lows.

I'd say that the Shure SRH940 has more detail than the DT770. They sound completely different though, with the SRH940 being mid-centric and rather bass-shy, while the DT770 is a bass monster with emphasized highs as well.

Not sure about the 32 Ohm DT880, but the 250 Ohm version that I've had had more detail and was overall a more natural-sounding headphone than the SRH940

Thank you all

Yo,

It depends on which DT770 Chaoturba wanted. If he goes for the Premium DT770 the bass will be rather shy. The PRO 80Ohm has monster bass.

Chaoturbo, which DT770 were you looking at? Also I find the DT880 to have better detail than the SRH-940. The DT880 32Ohm do need a modest amp as they are not quite that sensitive.

I just want flat and natural sound  and detail. Thank you.

My Shure 940 has great detail but is seriously lacking in the bass dept.

Why you consider AKG K550D? It has great detail separation, wider sons stage, very impressive mids range and smoother treble.

Hi,

Perhaps the 250Ohm DT880 is for you. They are very neutral and are very detailed. The K550 sound brighter, thinner, and not as detailed in comparison.

Recently, I was auditioning some closed cans and I had tried the Shure 940, DT770 80ohms, AKG K550, Denon 2000.

Here's my take.

For clarity and treble, I find Shure 940 and Denon 2000 to be the best. DT770 has too much sibilance which I find it quite irritating for leisure music listening.

AKG K550 on the other hand, is the most enjoyable cans.

The clarity is a bit shy or the higher freq notes are softer than the 940 & 2000.

It may not be the best monitoring headphones, but it has the widest sound stage and project the music further away from you.

It should have been in a different league from the rest of the above headphones.

I could listen to the K550 for hours but the not DT770.

I would use the Shure 940 for monitoring as it doesn't have the exaggerate bass of the Denons.

I find the bass in the KRK KNS-8400 almost enough...DT880 600 Ohm...perfect. But the headphone's not as exciting as the Shure 840 I tried. It also touches my ears on the inside and that drives me nuts...

Do I want the SCH-940, Ultrasone Pro 750, or Audio-Technica ATH-A900X?!

Which has brighter/harsher treble, SRH840 or DT880 250ohm?

From the brief time I had w/ the Shure's, I'd say the Beyers did.
