Build Quality / Fit

The FAD Heaven IV like the e-Q5 is very well built imo with the stainless steel housing that looks really nice.  They have a flat tangle free cable not unlike Beats that also gives them a nice look, really these are one of the nicest looking IEM's I've had a chance to use.  They have a L shaped plug with the standard gold plated jack.  I've had them get caught and pulled out of my ears and the cables held up great so the build quality of these are quite good.

As for the fit there's really nothing to complain about at all.  With the 2 different style tips they give you its not hard to get a good isolating fit with these, I like the more rounded tips but the others work just as good.  I thought they might get a little heavy feeling after a long listening session because of the steel housing but not so they felt fine after I had them in for about 4 hours.  Like the e-Q5 the don't have the little chin slider that helps you get a more secure fit but since these are worn down you really don't need one imo.  Over all a very nice fitting IEM that can be worn for long periods of time with no problems.

Sound Quality,

Bass - The bass of the Heaven IV was quite shocking to me but in a very good way.  They have the most bass impact and depth I've heard from a single BA by far.  They can compete with they bass of the triple BA TF10 no problem which when you think about is kinda amazing for a small single BA.  The bass is very strong but doesn't over power the mids or treble imo and they sound great with hip hop and edm and I could even see some bass heads that would like the response of the Heaven IV's bass.  Using my E11 amp on EQ 1 the bass hits pretty hard and has good depth and no distortion even at high volume.

Mids - Here's where the Heaven IV stands out from the crowd with a quite unique sounding midrange.  Its hard for me to describe them because I've never heard an IEM with this kind of midrange presentation before.  They have a warm tone with good detail but it feels like there's a unique coloration to them .  I'll listen to the same track with my e-Q5 then with the Heaven IV and say a melodies that sound more distant with the e-Q5 is more forward on the Heaven but not in a mid-centric way, like I said it hard to explain but the coloration they did to the mids works with these.  They can sound a touch dark from time to time on certain tracks but over all I like the mids.

Highs - Like many other IEM's I've reviewed the highs are a bit more laid back but still have some sparkle when the track calls for it.  Good detail but they might miss out on some of the micro detail that say the R-50 or HF5 can pick up on.  The extension of the treble is good and I can hear it up around the 16 kHz area.

Soundstage - This is another strong point of the Heaven IV with a very spacious sounding soundstage.  They are as wide sounding as the GR07 with the depth and height of the e-Q5 which makes them one of the largest soundstages I've heard from an IEM.  Imaging is quite good but there are sets that do it better but separation is top notch and you can hear every individual instrument and sound from a song.

The Heaven IV is a very capable IEM with good detail, bass that should satisfy most people and a very spacious soundstage and with a retail price around $200 I think reasonably priced for the quality you get.

Nice review my friend, that is what Heaven IV caught me on, unexpected and new surprise on mid frequency.
It doesnt sound correctly if compare with others similar range, but it's just smooth, engaging and makes you fall deep inside the mellow loophole.

Great review, it seems FAD really does have something special going on with the mids - even with my FAD Piano Forte II earbuds, as bass-deficient as they are, their engagingly colored mids keep me coming back to them.

On a related note, nice to see a fellow swimmer here.

Thanks guys I appreciate it, and the ones that have heard the Heaven IV or some of the other FAD IEM's know about though's unique mids they all have.  At first I really didn't think I would like them very much but I guess it took my brain longer to adjust to the sound compared to other IEM's.  Now that I've had them for a week and been able to really take time and listen to them I find the Heaven IV to be very fun and one of the more technically proficient single BA's I've heard, and not just single but even many multi- BA's.

Funny thing is, i treat them as a human being, he has his own characteristic and mission not to please everyone ears.
They are pretty picky too, half of my collection of music gone due to my PFViii

The heaven IV is actually not to genre picky and they are designed to still sound good but in 'their own way'!

How do you compair them to the TDK BA200?

These are a lot more up front, soundstage is bigger and bass bigger more powerful. BA200 have better imaging but extension is not as strong both ends and more laid back. Mids on the BA200 are really nice and vocals have a great presence, however the mids on these are like nothing else so you really can not compare them. What are you looking for, i will try and help!

I already have the TDK BA200, I would just want to get the FADs for a different experience, do you think the FADs are worth getting?. I listen to a vairiation of Rock and Dupstep. To me the TDKs feel a bit to bright for my taste... but I still love them. And thanks for the quick reply biggrin.gif.

If the TDK is too bright then you are very sensitive to treble. I tho I the FAD will meet your requirement so I would give it a go.

Awesome, thanks for the advice :D

I really really really wanted to like them but it turns out I really really really hated them!

First and foremost the design looks very stylish but the cable is a little cheap like flat raman noodles!

The sound is OVERLY SHRILL! I mean whenever the singer pronounces the S word, the sound turns really bright, so sharp, it's too painful to hear!

I don't know man, the price on these are unjustified! When I bought my SE535 LTD, it seems to me there are no other brands that sonically impress me. In order words, they sounded like crap compared to Shure...

However the only headphones beside Shure SE535 that I enjoyed are Grado PS 1000 and Sennheiser HD800...

I guess Shure really have touched or pinpoint exactly where my taste or preference in sound reproduction!

Great work Shure!
