Heir Audio 4.Ai > Sony XBA-4 = Shure SE435

The Heirs are hands down the best. Can't decide between the other two as they're better at different things. The Shures are very mid-centric so great for vocals while the bassy Sonys are great for trance and techno.

I am very tempted to say the 3.Ai because it fits my preferred sound signature very well. However, I have also tried the W4 and I have to say it is better overall in terms of being pretty flat, yet still lively/fun and not harsh in any way with decent extension up top and down low. I'd be tempted to try one out for a longer period of time (buy one), but I'm even more interested in trying the 8A.

If you are more into the 3Ai sound I'd say the 8A is the way to go. Can't wait to get mine :).

Agreed! I need to stop with the spending this year though, wallet is on fire :D Maybe the 10A will come out soon wink_face.gif

 

Really though, the 8A sounds perfect from all that I've read. I just hope the sound stage is nice.

Anyone heard the Musical Fidelity EB-50? My first BA. Makes my IE8's sound muddy and lifeless. Bargain price for audiophile 'phones.

I'm interested in these. They claim "ruler flat response." Some reviews by people who have owned the RE272 and ER4S say that the EB-50's were better. Might spring for a pair of these from amazon, as there is a 30 money back guarantee.
