Never heard about TU-03.  The little brother is TUR-06: half size but hybrid while the TU-05 is "Tubes only" (no transistors in the Amp section like in the TUR-06)

As for Headphone-out, it ship with 3,5mm jack, but... I added a big FAT XLR (non Balanced) because I find the 3,5mm jack way too fragile with thick full size headphone.

Hi...sorry...you are quite right, I meant the 06, oops!
Wow, you add your own xlr...I wouldn't dare breath on it internally!
Would the maker not provide a connection option at point of purchase? Without a 6.3mm I couldn't even consider this make of amp anymore :-(:-(

Since it is made on request, you can ask for a 6,3mm option (can even ask RCA input instead of 3,5mm).

In thiose cases the manufacturer use a slightly longueur casing.

You would take that over these?

Chord Hugo

Violectric V200 & V800

Burson Soloist & Conductor

Bakoon MK3 http://www.headfonia.com/bakoon-hda-5210mk3-amplifier or HPA 21

Objective question.

I know I can get the HPA8 for roughly $700 so it would be the cheapest but not my main concern.  I'm looking for SQ and universal use with future headphones that are harder to drive as well without adding any HISS to the TH900's.

I cant speak for other headphones as Im a th900 guy with shure 846 for outdoors. I was replying to a post concerning hpa4, id go hpa8. What I can say is that the amp has fantastic sq, plenty O power and multiple input and refinement qualities, whatever you get the th 900 will sound great, as they do on the HPA8.

They sound fantastic with HP-A4 too.

I am going to use a receiver until I can get a dac/amp.

Choices below:

Sources:
FiioX5 & iPod Classic Rockboxed, Computer

Music Format used mainly:
Lossless FLAC (generally)

Deciding between:
Chord Hugo
Violectric V200 & V800
Burson Soloist & Conductor
Bakoon MK3 http://www.headfonia.com/bakoon-hda-5210mk3-amplifier or HPA 21

Any feedback is appreciated for those who have listened to these with th900.  I want to get down to a couple choices so I can go find a place to audition.

I owned the Bakoon HDA 5210mk3 - best h/p amp I've used I also own grace m903 & Leben cs300xs the Bakoon was fair bit ahead IMO with th900 fantastic combo

thank you. Those are some serious amps there. Ever try the Burson Conductor? Where is the best place to get the bakoon in the USA?

I have never tried the Burson Conductor .

The Korean version of the Bakoon I believe is available stateside, not sure about the Japanese one

I purchased it from a vendor in Perth Western Australia WAR Audio. I believe headfi member http://www.head-fi.org/u/274437/Llloyd purchased one direct from japan - I have seen Bakoon japan products also on ebay. And price japan which has an excellent reputation.

I don't live in the US of A I live down under (Australia).

Aside from Lloyd I have not read any other member on headfi who owns the HDA 5210 mk3 (Japanese Bakoon) I do concurs with Lloyd regarding the HDA 5210 mk3 having tremendous power. The sound stage is enhanced on the TH900 and the signature is one of nicely detailed supremely controlled euphoric bliss - to use a technical description smily_headphones1.gif

Having never heard the Korean version I'm unsure if it is better than the Japanese version. The advantage (for me ) of the Japanese version is it has a power supply - the Korean version runs off rechargeable batteries.

If you are able to try before you buy it would be a luxury - in my case I ordered on faith, as I really like well made Japanese Hifi gear. I'm glad I did and haven't looked back.

I like them quite a bit when driven by the HP-A8 as in my opinion the somewhat leaner bass does them better justice than when driven by the A4.

Another combination I tried last week was with the Phonitor 2... very nice, it drives the TH900 with authority, with lots of details and a strong, but controlled and deep reaching bass (i.e. stronger than with the A8).

The HP-A8 still has the advantage of offering two headphone jackets, which sometimes is nice to have.

Woah...the middle one is nice...like the softer Orange light...nice compliment to the valve glow....if the valves can be seen with the new case?

Wow....very interested in what way bakoon is better than the well thought of grace....and is there a specific character reason for the th900 as to why this is? Thanks

I've got the conductor with them at the moment....not a big difference to the colorfly c4 on it's own....might sound unlikely, but the C4 it's quite powerful enough for the sensitive 900's and there's great synergy already....think the conductor brings a subtle increase to detail and control, but only slight...which is why I'm interested in something that really compliments the th900 and isn't just a good dac/amp.

A very useful guide...balance of technical quality and listening enjoyment....the two are not always the same! I wish more on head fi would/could do the same.....Thanks :-)

No probs - just bear in mind some cans might match up more effectively with the grace - iim not sure which ones mind you. The other thing to bear in mind is the grace has a DAC and an excellent remote the Bakoon is a h/p amp only
