I would do what I'm doing and start reading all the pages of the TH900 thread. I've gotten a lot of information about what amp to get from that thread.

Ha....half way through ;-) but I'd love to find an amazing synergy with a little tube amp....at good value ideally....that's my instinct....that's my goal.

TH900 + TU-05 (portable tube amp) = amazing synergy ! I guaranty, this is my set-up :D

Yeah, that's what I did (as well as the Recommended Amps For TH900 thread) and ended up deciding on the Burson Soloist.

Does it connect with the stick single end from the 900? And does it have digital coax in, so I connect my C4? Also, any idea how the smaller tu 03 would do? Thanks

Burson Soloist or Fostex HP-A8 ?

I Need
1. wider sound stage and
2. deep subwoofer like bass
3. with sparkling trebles.

Kind of like the hpa8 cause of built in DAC.

Anyone can elaborate? Thanks in advance.

Nice choice. I am leaning toward the Auralic Taurus once I read project86 (akak John Grandberg).

Haven't heard TH990s through it, but the HiFiMan EF5 amp has a remarkable synergy with the Denon 7000s which share the same sound signature.

Ok so with that said my TH900 will be here next Wednesday.  Yes!

I am going to use a receiver until I can get a dac/amp.

Choices below:

Sources:

FiioX5 & iPod Classic Rockboxed, Computer

Music Format used mainly:

Lossless FLAC (generally)

Deciding between:

Chord Hugo

Violectric V200 & V800

Burson Soloist & Conductor

Bakoon MK3 http://www.headfonia.com/bakoon-hda-5210mk3-amplifier or HPA 21

Any feedback is appreciated for those who have listened to these with th900.  I want to get down to a couple choices so I can go find a place to audition.

There are NO DAC inside, so only Analog line-in.

Never heard about TU-03.  The little brother is TUR-06: half size but hybrid while the TU-05 is "Tubes only" (no transistors in the Amp section like in the TUR-06)

As for Headphone-out, it ship with 3,5mm jack, but... I added a big FAT XLR (non Balanced) because I find the 3,5mm jack way too fragile with thick full size headphone.

Hpa8 is what I prefer, more power, higher bit rate, more source options, up sampling....IMO.

You would take that over these?

Chord Hugo

Violectric V200 & V800

Burson Soloist & Conductor

Bakoon MK3 http://www.headfonia.com/bakoon-hda-5210mk3-amplifier or HPA 21

Objective question.

I know I can get the HPA8 for roughly $700 so it would be the cheapest but not my main concern.  I'm looking for SQ and universal use with future headphones that are harder to drive as well without adding any HISS to the TH900's.

Congrats! they are amazing cans.

Chord Hugo has a nice dac, but also portable. The headphone section could be better i think.

The conductor pairs nicely with the TH900. It adds no coloration to the sound, and everything sounds like being on a live performance

This guy made an extensive comparison as well, which i found very interesting:

Thank you.  This is my first reply on 2 different posts.  So +1 on conductor now in the lead.
