I was just wondering about guys who sell diy cables and how they stack up to brand name cables

i'm particularly interested in analog ic's.

i just got a MisterX mini to rca so i was curious.

personally i like it so this is really just a "wonderin" question.

In general DIY cables can be very competitive. That's because cables in the lower price ranges are even more of a crapshoot then the higher end. Diminishing returns still apply. Take the popular Belden based DIY cables for example. These cables can vary in build quality and price. They'll use a different plug and it can be double the price. They can still offer more performance for the money than similarly priced "name brand" cable that has retail markup and shipping etc. factored in.

However keep in mind that name brand cables generally have a resale market which may swing the value equation around.

Eric's Nitrogen cables are amazing. They're easily the best ICs I've ever heard and are very competitive pricewise ($130). I would think that to really beat them, you'd need to look at cables anywhere from five to ten times their price.
