I'm going to go out on a limb and say the AD700 is probably worse in the bass department.

Thats the impression I get, by the way the AKGs can get bass if the amp adds bass. which is quite sweet for opamp or tube rolling, it makes just enough of a difference, but not enough for bassheads.

Yea it does lack bass, you have to EQ it in or use a op-amp that has a sound signature which adds bass. Which what I did when I used to have a AD700 years ago. But my Ears found it highs to be too much, so I ran from it.post #22 of 287/23/12 at 11:22amQuote:FiiO E7 has a nice bass booster on it. Perfect for the AKG Q701's that I have, which have been called the AD700 on steroids.

AKG's seem really nice. The K 240 (http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Acoustics-K-240-Studio-Headphones/dp/B0001ARCFA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
)
I'll keep that on my list. I would only use them for home use though, but if somehow it suddenly blows out like some people have mentioned in some reviews, how is their customer service for repairs if something goes wrong?

Quote:Yea That what I felt about the AKG K702 I used to have, when amp correctly. AD700 was my first audiophile grade headphone so I still remember how it sounds.

Really good from my interaction, but it takes a few days to get the first response, I really dont think they will blow out unless your hooking them up to a car battery.

My brother has K702, and currently he is running them out of an O2, he used to have a Matrix M-stage and they had more bass than, but I really don't even mind their bass out of the O2 and the sound stage is amazing.
post #28 of 287/25/12 at 8:47amYou can also try the AD300. I actually prefer this to the AD700.
Fuller (and more forward sounding) mids, more bass and less treble.
The soundstage is a lot smaller, but still good.
They run about $75.
I got my pair at Wal-Mart on sale for $35!!
They also have a more secure feeling for those with a small head.
The AD700 is too loose.
