help with E17

Thread Starter

I just got my Fiio E17 yesterday. I love the sound quality but my problem is that when using with my earphones with an inline mic for answering my iphone calls I cannot answer the calls. When a call comes through, the music cuts out as it should and I hear the phone ringing in the earphones but when I push the button that normally would answer the phone it does not work anymore. I have to disconnect the cable from the phone to the E17. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how it is? I want to be able to answer a call without having to pull out my earphones or disconnect the cable.

Are you using an iPhone with LOD?

The pins on the LOD that FiiO is using may not allow for instructions such as "answering" a phone call to work as they only have the pins in the LOD attached to the "audio" sectors. but even more importantly.... This:

Also..you are connected to the E17, the E17 only has two prongs in the jack for LEFT AND RIGHT channel audio. Microphone uses a third prong that the e17 does not support. So even then, you are out of luck, sorry.

Try Bluetooth?

Audiophilia...you get some..you give osme.

I have the iphone 4S and am using the E17 with the iphone adaptor that I purchased separate. I was just not aware that I would not be able to answer calls while using this device. It is a pain to have to disconnect it when a call comes through.

What iPhone adapter?

You can only plug a 3.5mm transfer cable form 4S to E17 or use an LOD?

But yeah, microphone itself uses a third prong, the E17 does not have that third prong, you can't just solder one on either..it needs to work with the device.

If you really need to make phone calls and all that then you are...kinda in luck

FiiO is releasing the new E02i next month

in-line amp with mic and remote support for the iPhone. Detail is slim at the moment, but there is also the possibility of a version for smartphones other than Apple.

See the three prongs on the gold plated cable?

It will be a pain, considering you have the e17......and it's already guaranteed it won't be or sound as good asthe e17, but it's more for phone use than the e17 and out and about so it may be good.

MSRP is not yet determined....but considering it's their lower but functional ranges..probably not that expensive.and you have to admit, it looks very nice. The new black stealth and next gen style look FiiO is doing is looking VERY good to me....
