Is this the next flagship Hifi portable player from Hifiman?

This seems to be the next Flagship Hifi Portable player from Hifiman - HM-901. They showed a prototype at the spring NY meet, and it sounded very good.

Finally a picture with the dock has been released, although no spec info has been released officially. The word is that it's coming out on 10/1.

Imagine a system that can be used both on the road and at home. pretty neat idea I would say.

Sounds great. Any idea how much storage this bad boy packs?

no idea. I guess probably 8 GB. it supports both SDHC and SDXC cards, so you can easily drop in a large card. Personally i don't care about the onboard memory. Most of computers now come with SD card reader, so much easier to deal with the memory card.

Does it not have a screen???

Of course it has a screen, just not that obvious on the rendering. The R&D is almost done too, the first batch will be out in next few months.

Looks very Batman.  Will it support OSX?

Scroll wheel for volume? Would be nice if it had a flip-cover like it appears in the render. Looks great.

So this player can fit anywhere in the chain. Looks fantastic.

yes. the current HM-801 supports OSX. Since now the USB module is built in the dock, i can imagine that they can do much more than what they did with HM-801. It means a much better USB implementation.

Yup. that's what i was told. it will basically function like a full-size desktop DAC with the dock. All the input/output you normally get from a desktop DAC will be implemented on the dock.
