Yes, I use 320kbps files.

Why Sony does not release the 64GB version here is beyond me given that it was available in Japan in 2009-10 in the form of A847.  Of course, it is Sony.   I wonder from time to time if we will ever get a flash memory base with 128 GB from Sony.  That maybe 3-4 years down the road.  I don't really mind the microSD expansion slot situation, but the small memory size isn't cutting it.  Heck a class 10 64 GB SD card is available for less than $45 these days.

Potential Buyer Alert of the WM-Z1070 64gb Japanese Version (outside of Japan).

Normally these are only available on eBay or from a Shipping-Agent in Japan costing $540+ (£345+)... a very helpful Head-Fi'er in Japan is offering to get them for $490 (£312), which is not to be scoffed at (Anak Chan has vouched for him & that's good enough for a cynical bugger like me).

If anyone is thinking of getting a Z1070 now or in the near future PM me and I'll put you in touch with the Head-Fi member directly... you may also want to bare this in mind if a Japanese WM-F 64gb is released in the future, though the talk has only been of a 32gb model.

I still can't find any news of the new F800 in japan.  Will the F Walkman with 64GB of memory be available in Japan?  Anyone?

Purk... I searched the Sony Jpn site too, absolutely no mention of it... hopefully a Head-Fi'er living in Japan could update us.

it's time for Bolt... this could be legendary

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one.  The Japan market has A,E,S,W,X & Z series already. X & W have 64 GB models.  Some of the series are available in many colors.  Why would they need to spread themselves so thin by introducing another mid/large capacity series?  They already had poor financial reports this year (though I don't recall the details).  Seems to me they just release a few models for the MP3 saturated markets.   Although the F offers FLAC, all the home models offer ATRAC.  And ATRAC is what they use in X-App and their Japan only Mora online music marketplace.  It would take a bunch of work to homogenize all their products to please the MP3 crowd while their own market seems to lean towards more audiophile type tastes. (That's just my impression. I've never been to Japan. But I note that SHM CDs seem to be made in Japan, not UK or USA).  My guess is that a Japan market 64GB would be ATRAC.  It might be nice if they surprise me though.

Yes, it is better.  Better dynamics and more powerful sounding with better depth and width of soundstage.  Still very neutral sounding.

Update - WM-F will be out 23rd August - priced $300 for 32gb in USA

Size: Length 120m (4.8ins)

         Width 57mm (2.25ins)

Compared to my WM-X... it's 0.25ins wider & 0.5ins longer

if you go to a store it's the same size as the Xperia-Sola

$300+ for a 32GB player???? Ouch! It seems like many want a 64GB player for under $100. Get a 64GB microSDXC card for around $50, format it as FAT32, then add it to a $30 2GB Sandisk Clip+.

You forget, these $300 Android-powered  and iOS -powered players can do a lot of things a Clip+ can't.

I'm hoping the SQ in the Walkman is far above the Clip, guess we'll find out in a month or so.

it has the same as everything on the WM-Z, so will be superior in every way.

The Walkman Z is much more superior sounding.  My clip zip + has been collecting dust since the walkman X has landed, and the X isn't even as good as the Z walkman.  Thanks for a superior digital amplifier.

Sony Japan has not made any media announcement regarding the F800 till now. All the prevailing news regarding the F80x floating around Japanese websites have their source based on the announcement made by Sony Europe.

I will be particularly keen to learn how different its SQ will be when compared to their Xperia Ion/Xperia Acro S mobile phones since they share many things in common (except for the digital amp maybe).
