Hi guys

Every since the Shure 1440 came out I was instantly sucked into buying it. N i have just purchased it. I was looking into some tube amp, n came across Bottlehead Crack amp. It fit my budget perfectly. Currently i have a Dac/amp setup, a Fiio e9 n e7. I was wondering does anyone know how to connect the Crack amp to the e9? I am pretty new at this stuff, any help would do. Do you guys thinks this would be a good combination?

Thanks

Do you want to connect the E7 or the E9 (the amp) to the Bottlehead Crack?

Don't I have to connect it to the e7(dac) since the e9 is an amp?? :)

The Bottlehead Crack is an amp. In general, you don't want to double amp. Direct the input from the E7 (your dac) to the Bottlehead (your amp) and plug your headphones into the amp.

Do note however that the Bottlehead Crack is not recommended for headphone with low impedance.

Yah the shure 1440 is a low impedence headphone so I was wondering if the bottleheadcrack be fine wit it. I guess not so what new dac n amp setup would u recommended for the sbure 1440 right now I have the e9 n e7 combo.

Honestly, you've already spent the money on an e7 and e9 which are a decent dac and amp pair. If you're moving to a tube amp, then you're not using your e9 anymore.

That said, if you're really looking to go into the tube sound then take a look at the list here for some options: http://www.head-fi.org/t/402585/review-summary-a-ranking-of-32-tube-and-tube-hybrid-headphone-amps

hahah alright thanks, yah i knew that was a pretty decent setup but i wanted something more. Right now I am itchy to spend some money to treat myself, so i was thinking for something better. I looked into the peachtree nova dac/amp, it is around 1200, i haven't heard much about that one in this forum. From what i know this thing is a beast it can power some speakers. I played with it a couple times but it sounds pretty darn good. Any opinions?

Sorry, I haven't heard the Peachtree.

Keeping with Bottlehead stuff, the SEX and Smack amps are better suited for low impedance. From the link I gave earlier, off that list at the cheap end I've heard the Musical Paradise which is actually pretty good.
