1/4" 1/8" connection?

What's the difference between the two? Does an 1/4" adapter sound better? I know it's supposedly better but there's a thing for convenience for the 1/8" standard has won out.

Does using an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter degrade the quality?

Quarter inch is larger than eight inch, thus larger surface area for contact. My guess is that it allows the audio signal to transfer from connector to cable better/faster? Wether or not it makes a difference on sound quality, I have no idea. But if you think about it, well made thick cables generally sound better than well made thin cables.

Increased surface area at the point of contact, and increased cross section in a cable, would decrease resistivity. This makes the voltage across the voice coil closer to the voltage in the headphone jack.

I honestly have no idea what real difference it makes.

i was wondering in more terms of adapter

does having an 1/8 to 1/4 adapter make it seem like the original input would be 1/4?
