So one of my favorite companies Audinst is about to introduce a new product. They are doing a special sale this month.

Can someone look at the specs and at least guess how is it different from HUD-mx1? There are no reviews at this time.

I cannot decide which version of theirs DAC to buy for my laptop.

Here is theirs products page.

Thanks.

Edit (details): (Click to show)

DAC: PCM1791A

AMPs: LME49860 and AD8397

Looks a lot like mx1 to me.

I've found some pics from Headfonia.

Maybe they'll do a review soon.

headfonia.com Alright while this is pretty good DAC, I'm not sure if I prefer it to the HUD-MX1. :(

It's on sale for $100 for the rest of the month: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audinst-HUD-mini-Hi-Fi-USB-Audio-DAC-/180927550552?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item2a201f5458#ht_6147wt_1163

Looks to be a good deal for a transportable all in one that can also work as a USB to TOSLINK converter. Even has an output selector switch for toggling between the line out and the headphone out and both 1/8" and 1/4" jacks. I'm suspecting that the power swing for headphones won't be that great without the ability to use an AC adapter though.

Look here for a mini-review.

Thank you project86 :)
